When you subscribe to 1 year, it starts with the latest issue only. If you want the previous issue i.e. April, Mac so on so forth then you have to buy it.
If you said you already subscribe for 1 year, just refresh your entitlement within the app. The button where it usually display the price will change to something like read or download. |

Try find "Restore purchase" or something like that in the magazine setting. It will refresh your entitlement.
