Ugh... The Quicko is quite gross. It has ingredients like corn/soy and even pork.
So all this time you've been feeding them nothing but apple and applesauce??? Honey is also not a good idea for young gliders. Did you give them any source of protein? Ground boiled chicken? Cat/dog kibble? Crickets and mealworms? This post has been edited by Reanne: Jan 11 2007, 06:12 PM |

A good diet would be to give various fruits such as mango, apple, pear, a bit of grapes wouldn't hurt either. Protein can be from boiled eggs, boiled chicken, mealworms and crickets. The only source of protein I've seen them take willingly are crickets and mealworms. If you can, give more crickets and less mealies, cuz mealies are high in fat.
You can still use some applesauce, but don't give it as a staple. Ratio of fruits and protein is roughly 50 : 50. Another thing, gutloading crickets and mealworms 12 to 24 hours prior to feeding is advisable. Make sure you feed the crickets high protein stuff like high quality dog/cat kibble, if not they'll start to eat each other. This post has been edited by Reanne: Jan 11 2007, 06:40 PM |

QUOTE(cheaka @ Jan 15 2007, 10:49 AM) Hi, I am new to this...after reading the first page about having Sugar Glider as a pet....I decided to get one... Got it last Saturday....I think mine is the wild adult sugar glider....already cocoa brown colour....but he has been very shy on the first day i got him...hiding inside the coconut... I feed him apple...and "koa chi".... On second day, i try to touch him and feed him koa chi and apple...he takes it off from my hand...and also he is okay that i pet him and touch his tail.... But his hours very gila loh..he would sleep until 10.30pm only wake up...then only active at around 11.30pm.....he is active in the early morning at 8.00am.... I want to take him out and play but i worry that might stress him out....i put in my used t-shirt...cut out both of my sleeves and put in there...hope he will get use with it and slowly let me carry him out.... Can tell me more how you play with him? QUOTE(soggie @ Jan 18 2007, 06:34 PM) Well there's a way, but it is up to you. Just ignore his crabs. You're the boss, and after the first week you should be pulling the shots. Goto the cage, tell him straight to his face "dude, you're here for a week, and a day in my clothes, and you still don't remember me? You're not retarded so you better stop that crap." LOLThen, touch him, and don't pull away when he crabs. He'll tire after a while, and then gently stroke him, and just don't cabut when he bites or crabs. If he bites, don't pull away, just freeze. His teeth aint strong enough to break skin I guess. Wait, you did say its an adult right? This complicates matters... Give it time I guess... feed it more, spend more time with it, get bitten regularly and it'll warm up to you. Seriousy, you don't wanna consider the 9v battery treatment? Waaa.... So ganas and direct to the glider meh? My glider is also a WC fella I think. He was extremely aggressive and it took me about 8 months to tame him. When I first met my Pickles, the previous owner fed him some papaya by hand, instead of taking the papaya, Pickles bit his hand. Now I can take Pickles out with me in his pouch, but one piece of advise : This glider will not bond to you. You may be able to tame him to not bite and run around, but he will not respond to you and bond to you the way one that has bonded with you from a young age. Remember, this animal was taken from the wild and put into a cage, it would most definitely be discontented if you rush the taming process. It needs time and patience to get used to it's surroundings and most importantly, you. Talk to it everyday, make it a habit to say good morning and good night. Once the glider has become comfortable with coming out of it's pouch or house, offer it food and stroke it gently on the tail or back while it's busy eating. Later you can slowly move to stroking the head when it's used to it. Later, install a pouch into the cage and when it sleeps inside, take the pouch out with the glider and stroke it through the pouch. DO NOT attempt to take the glider outdoors before it is accustomed to being picked up or touched with your bare hands. This method is very safe and has a very high chance in taming your glider. I have not been bitten once by Pickles. soggie, this is not a dog. A dog would understand your tone, but a glider, especially a WC one, will not. YES, a glider CAN bite you till you bleed. The thing you walk in is a metal detector. For girls, can hide in your bra, but make sure not in your cleavage if you're going to countries like Australia and New Zealand. They check your cleavage too. For guys... Err... In your underwear? lol

QUOTE(hamster9 @ Mar 12 2007, 04:55 PM) like i reemphasize again..domestic flights only lolLike one in Hong Kong, they have super 3D x-ray scanner on human too I figured, but there sure will be some Tom, d*** and Harry that would want to try. We can't really do anything but tell them that it's not advisable in case of getting caught. Their endangering their own babies. |

For me, I think the bowls are ok. But the vitamin supplements and treats are unnecessary. The treats most probably also contains sugar and food colouring/preservatives.

Where got pin sam? Would you like to bring an extremely smelly glider to a gathering and risk stinking like him at the end of the day.
Can ask Crazymouse how stinky he is. She's had a whiff of him before. This post has been edited by Reanne: Mar 23 2007, 05:14 PM |

Just only cut his nails today. I don't cut that often because he stresses easily. He doesn't bite but he's not that tame. He was aggressive and adult when I first got him leh, so he's not bonded.
Just asked Crazymouse, she said Pickles smells as bad as Oshine. This post has been edited by Reanne: Mar 23 2007, 07:47 PM |

CFP : Err.... Hmmm... Did you read up on bonding at all before you got her?
QUOTE dont worry here we also we got 2 persianmix cat dunno breed its a fluffy type cat...but i afraid if they tame n want to let they round in the house the cat might catch its hmm.gif better i thk let they stay in cage for now..coz the cat now when see through my fish tank also havent blink in the eyes..maybe they say nyam nyam if can eat nemo.. Put the cats in another area of room when you let your gliders out. Always supervise them whenever they're out of their cage. This post has been edited by Reanne: Mar 25 2007, 08:41 PM |
