Thinking to purchase glass screen protector from ebay but seems like it would take long to arrive. ~3 weeks usually.

I used to have a personal guide of accessories budget that should not exceed 10% of the phone's value. So a phone worth a thousand, it's reasonable for me to get a casing and SP up to a hundred.
However, look at the economics scale for Honor 3C. The flip case sold in Vmall is RM78 (or RM68 in storekini); screen protector is RM18. Assuming retail price, it totals to RM96. 19% of the phone's new value. |

QUOTE(benny0908 @ May 13 2014, 09:45 PM) Today at Midvalley saw Huawei booth. They say have stock but the price rm799. They mark up or that is the rrp? I think it is an encouragement for online purchase.QUOTE(Ivan Sac @ May 13 2014, 09:57 PM) https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=3218852&hl= |

QUOTE(kmrdeva @ May 14 2014, 12:49 PM) Guys and gals, No source of local firmware that we can update to first post? It would be dangerous to leave that link in the first post but isn't the right ROMPlease be careful when trying to mod your phone's firmware. Let me share my experience with you. The issues were not due to the phone but actually user error 1. Tried to root using vRoot (Chinese version) - successful 2. Found an English version of vRoot, tried to update - not successful, lost root 3. Factory reset - vRoot still in the phone, phone still unrooted, can't re-root. 4. Tried to load the stock rom from the first post - phone booted up fine, everything was working except that it was a China Unicom rom and could not detect my Maxis SIM anymore. 5. Finally gave up and sent my phone to the authorised service centre, SEMS, in Penang. Followed up with them after 3 days and they said they have ordered a new motherboard for my phone. ETA 7 working days. Will be really careful once I get my phone back. |

I've got the phone for about a week and here is my impression of the Honor 3C. Among my group of friends, not many had seen the Honor 3C and here is how I have been showing it off to them:
+Great screen colours and brightness. Beats my flagship Xperia Z side by side +Very clear and sharp front camera with wide angle <- This really impresses many people +Smooth interface with 2GB RAM +Expandable memory +Quad core and Dual SIM The Looks ![]() ![]() Some says looks is secondary to features, I find great importance to the looks for a phone. When I saw the phone, it greatly resembles of my Xperia Z. I am impressed with the clean, flat and square design which didn't look like a cheap phone. ![]() When I say it greatly resembles my Xperia Z, I mean it. If not for the different button placement, I could have just put on my Xperia Z bumper casing onto the Honor 3C. The display is also part of the physical looks of the phone. For those who hasn't seen the real device, go find one. The colours of the screen is vivid with above average viewing angles. Xperia Z has infamous dull and poor viewing angle screen, and it has to step aside when Honor 3C is compared side to side. Battery Life I have no idea how much some people could use a phone all the time so battery life can be subjective. I only make phone calls, send messages, take several photos for work use, browse Facebook; I am confident that the battery could last more than a day for me. With sensible use, 2 days of battery life is not a problem. Honor 3C has a feature to stop applications from running/waking up the device when screen is off, similar to my Xperia Z's Stamina mode. Probably this is the reason how these phones can easily last through the day. Reception I make quite some phone calls at work and Honor 3C never failed me. The earpiece is loud and clear. Signal bar hardly to be anything less than full. Not just voice calls, it is great at WiFi and even FM radio reception. However on the side note, the FM radio does not support RDS, although not an important feature in Malaysia. Due to its strong reception, the battery life remains good even though I had it tethering to my other phone during the day. Media and Audio The audio quality on the Honor 3C is enough for one to enjoy music. Honor 3C comes with DTS sound effect, which appears to boost bass and vocal. The DTS sound effect seems good on slow songs like Jacky Cheung's but I prefer DTS effect turned off in general. Maybe bassy music is not my cup of tea. With YouTube, the frames skip. It could be something with the YouTube app itself as other video playback isn't affected. Hopefully we'll see a fix on YouTube or the phone's firmware soon enough. Front camera easily triumph over some flagship phones. Sharp and clear with wide angle lens, perfect for group selfies without forcefully stretching arms. The rear camera hasn't been said much as many other phones had a lot more to offer, but the 8MP shooter is not bad at all. I can't wait to find a good opportunity to take good photos on it. Bonus section: Just if anyone was wondering how the RM15 TPU case(+free screen protector) looks with the Honor 3C, here it is: ![]() ![]() Huawei managed to build a solid performer at a budget price point. The phone just always look good, and doesn't look like it's only RM499 to me. I like the competition that China brands are giving to mainstream brands like Samsung and Sony. We consumers are benefiting from this fierce entry of China branded devices. This post has been edited by mengsuan: May 18 2014, 12:52 AM |

QUOTE(Mr.Biscuit @ May 18 2014, 01:11 AM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « really wish post like this can exist in every other type of phone main thread. gives a clear view about some of the main features. simple yet great QUOTE(johnnyc @ May 18 2014, 01:26 AM) Cool, i thought it was too warm of my comfort. Perhaps, it's due to thin plastic back cover. Honor 3C warms up evenly. My other phones usually heat up at one spot, easily burning hot when tethering or using the camera. This Honor 3C is considered the coolest android phone I had.I do like the UI is similar to iOS as I'm using iPhone as my primary phone. But, such similarity can land Huawei and other into trouble if Apple have decided to sue This post has been edited by mengsuan: May 18 2014, 01:30 AM |

ericmaxman, a suggestion, could you compile our own forum member's reviews as quote or as link into the first few post of the thread?
