Want to learn guitar, always wanted to learn it. I know I always hangat hangat taik ayam, my budget around Rm500 ~ RM600. Tomorrow if I'm free maybe cabut go to music store (where are in KL, Pertama/Cambell still got?). Hehehe brand preference, Fender/Ibanez, hehe. Wanna go together also can but sometime work, get the best out of me so cancel. I will not belanja, sendiri jalan sendiri tanggung unless you're transsexual female who plays guitar. I've read a lot bout them, there's a post somewhere in /K can't remember the post. Quite interested with them, in be-friending them la... don't think dirty la woi

Pretty hard to get a good electric guitar around that budget you've posted. Trust me a lot of problems when starting without a good one. I suggest you go snag up an amp first, there's a good one selling in garage sales (Kustom 12 gauge)

Meantime borrow guitars from friends and build up your path (blues/rock/metal/all-rounder) - here onwards you'll learn to select guitars to suit you. Do note some players prefer to suit themselves for a specific guitar.

your budget is too low

only ones i could think of

Ibz GAX (sounds like shit tho)
used pacifica (that also i think more since a new one is about 1k+++)
SX guitar
Cort
i dont think you can get a good fender with that price tag as if im not mistaken a fender CV is also 1k ++

you could use a used SX or a Cort if they have one in your price range, owh yea make sure got fixed bridge

if you like a girl, do you go for her sister ?

only prb with acoustics is a lot of people go cheap on them so they buy the cheapest shittiest gutiar on the block that is hard to play.

Why not start with an acoustic?
I started with one, 21 fret.

And if you're starting to learn how to play one,
Never EVER skip the basics.
NEVER.

.. I've felt the consequences.

I thought guitar are all the same?
Cheap guitar are harder to learn as compare to the pricey ones?
Again, can I go straight to electric guitar and skip the acoustic ones?
I already got an acoustic at home.

Beginners might give up easily if they started with acoustics coz the string is too hard.

It's always better for beginners to begin with electric guitars.

well if they are all the same then no one will pay for expensive guitars.

technically, yea cheaper guitars both eletrics and acoustics tend to have rather basic workmanship also the distance bewtween the strings and the fret can be rather high, expensive ones you can put it very low etc etc.

you are not skipping anything , they are both guitars but the way its approached is diff.

agree with this. semi acoustic is nice to learn acoustic and also electric in same time.

but need to use amp which have built-in effects, or add extra pedals

when got the fundamentals, then can go for full electric

for me personally, i prefer more acoustic because for me the sound produced is more 'natural'.

ye la

tapi dia kan newbie

dia expect dapat je guitar tu he can oledi start shredding, bending and such

he thinks with that crap rocksmith its gonna make everything easier

he shud start with the basic, proper sitting position, proper pose, proper handling, proper fingering, proper pacing, relaxing, using metronome

and start with strumming basic chords, before going to plucking singles and scales.

its already hard enough for a newbie to sound good on an acoustic..

forget the glory of playing amped riffs and shitz with dozens of effects, he couldnt even strum a decent sounding chord yet

he needs the essential, PROPER basics

even more so that hes self learning

every shitty sounds he gets while learning will be amplified, the buzz and noise on the heavier strings

he'll quit sooner than if he were to start with an acoustic

(no dont be like me, im just a guitar enthusiast and i dont play that much also, just being able to play is good enough)

currently jamming to this:

ye la

tapi dia kan newbie

dia expect dapat je guitar tu he can oledi start shredding, bending and such

he thinks with that crap rocksmith its gonna make everything easier

he shud start with the basic, proper sitting position, proper pose, proper handling, proper fingering, proper pacing, relaxing, using metronome

and start with strumming basic chords, before going to plucking singles and scales.

its already hard enough for a newbie to sound good on an acoustic..

forget the glory of playing amped riffs and shitz with dozens of effects, he couldnt even strum a decent sounding chord yet

he needs the essential, PROPER basics

even more so that hes self learning

every shitty sounds he gets while learning will be amplified, the buzz and noise on the heavier strings

he'll quit sooner than if he were to start with an acoustic
*
w electric guitar also can learn basic, at;east after eeach lesson he can play simple chord on his favourite song w similar sound....

important is need good teachr so foundation is solid... if not bcum like me.... learn from utube, keep changing how to hold pick, stgill cant follow beat

yea they drill 6-8 holes at the top corner of the body

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

the swiss cheese 6-8 holes is the old traditional weight relief from the 80s all gibsons from then to the 90s had it with an exception for a few. the traditionals use this now and i think most Gibson's that say = non weight relief

the chambered appeared in 08 for the standards i think, then it went on for a few years then now gibson use the modern chambered in the standard models

all gibson models inc custom shop are somewhat like this, there are some full solids out there la, but u never know.

the one people b**** about is hte neck tenon

Buy a good acoustic, then if you feel passionate after 6-12 months, then its time to get an electric...

Started out with acoustic and my first song I learn was Pirates of The Caribbean theme

Beginners might give up easily if they started with acoustics coz the string is too hard.

It's always better for beginners to begin with electric guitars.
*
just put electric strings... whistling.gif

can get a decent Kapok brand acoustic guitar with pickups for 250-300. Cort electric is bang for the buck..
