oh my. we have really made a mess of it. 3-0 up, i went to check smtg out for a moment and was surprised it was 3-2. everyone is absolutely gutted. yes. i know. i am too. such huge disappointment for the way the season has went. it sucks to be a loser. i know theres still hope. a little, but a hope nonetheless. but to be fair, in a positive way...this wasnt new. us conceding goals that is. had we won, people will talk only about our attack, n how time and again, the attack has bailed the team out.. i guess the rally cry for battle by stevie at the end of the city game did more harm than good. maybe the team got a lil carried away.
i did not post after the chelsea game, though i had lots in my mind, but i knew this thread would have gone crazy for the lost, altho i saw that coming. at least i saw that we would find it so very difficult to get a goal against chelsea cuz of how jose sets his teams out when he visits the so called "top" teams. an easy example was how the beat city when city was also blowing teams away in etihad.
to be fair, with such defensive displays throughout the season, we didnt deserve the championships. whole season long, i think alot of fans are disillusioned a little by the way we have won. most games, we get a fast goal n push on from there because other teams has to "chase" to get back into the game. hence leaving more and more spaces behind for our front trio to punish.
i am streaming the game thru skysports and watching carra there instead of leading our back four, i think having him around this season, would easily could have gotten the title considering the circumstances. both gary n jamie gives top top analysis. and our back four, has been poor. at 3-1, br should prolly throw in agger to play a back 5. so many things and IFS but its a painful night. for the previous game, i thought br was inexperienced prolly and a lil naive against jose. 1 point would has been good. the lost to chelsea prolly damaged the morale and confidence a little. and hence the poor last 15mins when we literally switched off. i like the idea of leaving a front 2 most of the time, but for next season, we need better stability at the back..
again, its heartbreaking, at least for me, that this is the closest we have come for sometime. and maybe, just maybe this is the closest we will get to the title for years to come again. i want to be positive, i really do, but next season, jose's chelsea will be better, city will spend again, manutd will spend, arsenal will get a top class striker. for us, my biggest fear is suarez leaving. i honestly think he will. he's 27. he doesnt have much time left. i know we are in the champions league. at the start of the season, nobody here and nobody back in liverpool, however diehard fan u are, u must be drunk if u think we could challenge for the title. getting in the champs league was always the aim. we have done so. in that, huge congrats to the team. remember, we had the 11 game streak. and to do 14 to win the title, it would have been fairytale. someone has to lose right, nobody wants to be 2nd.
we were easily the people's general choice for the title, for gerrard, for the english core in the team - the emergence of young english players, for suarez turning a new leaf after his troubles and wanting to leave. it stings so much.
p.s. tl;dr. the match against palace stings and sucks, but we move on, and we look ahead, at least we're getting european nights next season and lets hope it stays for the next decade and more.
