oh my. we have really made a mess of it. 3-0 up, i went to check smtg out for a moment and was surprised it was 3-2. everyone is absolutely gutted. yes. i know. i am too. such huge disappointment for the way the season has went. it sucks to be a loser. i know theres still hope. a little, but a hope nonetheless. but to be fair, in a positive way...this wasnt new. us conceding goals that is. had we won, people will talk only about our attack, n how time and again, the attack has bailed the team out.. i guess the rally cry for battle by stevie at the end of the city game did more harm than good. maybe the team got a lil carried away.

i did not post after the chelsea game, though i had lots in my mind, but i knew this thread would have gone crazy for the lost, altho i saw that coming. at least i saw that we would find it so very difficult to get a goal against chelsea cuz of how jose sets his teams out when he visits the so called "top" teams. an easy example was how the beat city when city was also blowing teams away in etihad.

to be fair, with such defensive displays throughout the season, we didnt deserve the championships. whole season long, i think alot of fans are disillusioned a little by the way we have won. most games, we get a fast goal n push on from there because other teams has to "chase" to get back into the game. hence leaving more and more spaces behind for our front trio to punish.

i am streaming the game thru skysports and watching carra there instead of leading our back four, i think having him around this season, would easily could have gotten the title considering the circumstances. both gary n jamie gives top top analysis. and our back four, has been poor. at 3-1, br should prolly throw in agger to play a back 5. so many things and IFS but its a painful night. for the previous game, i thought br was inexperienced prolly and a lil naive against jose. 1 point would has been good. the lost to chelsea prolly damaged the morale and confidence a little. and hence the poor last 15mins when we literally switched off. i like the idea of leaving a front 2 most of the time, but for next season, we need better stability at the back..

again, its heartbreaking, at least for me, that this is the closest we have come for sometime. and maybe, just maybe this is the closest we will get to the title for years to come again. i want to be positive, i really do, but next season, jose's chelsea will be better, city will spend again, manutd will spend, arsenal will get a top class striker. for us, my biggest fear is suarez leaving. i honestly think he will. he's 27. he doesnt have much time left. i know we are in the champions league. at the start of the season, nobody here and nobody back in liverpool, however diehard fan u are, u must be drunk if u think we could challenge for the title. getting in the champs league was always the aim. we have done so. in that, huge congrats to the team. remember, we had the 11 game streak. and to do 14 to win the title, it would have been fairytale. someone has to lose right, nobody wants to be 2nd.

we were easily the people's general choice for the title, for gerrard, for the english core in the team - the emergence of young english players, for suarez turning a new leaf after his troubles and wanting to leave. it stings so much.

p.s. tl;dr. the match against palace stings and sucks, but we move on, and we look ahead, at least we're getting european nights next season and lets hope it stays for the next decade and more.

Looking at the last few games,Hendo might have been the difference.
The energy in midfield looked missing with him out

yes. another thing i want the note for hendo this season is that he brings more competitiveness in the squad. as in he keeps the other players on their toes, i have seen him shouting at lucas, skrtel and flanno in several matches this season, telling them what to do, calming players down etc. in other words, some leadership that is very lacking in this team. mentally hes a strong lad. we missed him badly. lucas hasnt been the same ever since he got injured. he seemed to lost some intensity that he had from the last 2 seasons. im not sure why and wonder is it because he lost his place in the starting 11.

we should never point at players and blame them. everyone makes poor decisions and mistakes. we can say gerrard lost it against chelsea. but what about the 2 points lost to westbrom because of kolo's mistake ? we have to give credit to palace though. a team who is doing so very well under pulis. they are already safe from relegation, nothing to play for really. but in their last home game, 3-0 down, they still kept going, fans giving them spirit and intensity.

relax guys, just hope City lost all match

at HOME against villa and west ham ? that is a little too much to ask for. had we won. i have some hope and believe that mancity might drop 2 points in one of those game. remember, this 2 clubs has managerial problems. lambert and sam. i know its not over till its over. for me. i believe it is over.

for me, i hope uruguay do badly in the wc, i dont wanna see suarez's stock rise up. madrid might come calling for real this time. yes, it has been a good season for us, whatever the results come sunday, a very good one indeed.. but last summer market, has been unlucky and poor for us.

sakho was our "marquee" signing, but for me, the jury is still out. he looks very shaky in possession and isnt top class yet defending, but hes young still. aspas has been a poor poor signing, alberto still young, but both of them, thats close to 15mil wasted. mignolet has been average for me. i still think hart cech and de gea are miles ahead of him. 7mil pounds for illori and hes loaned out. kolo has been good for a few games, and some bad mistakes and hes dropped. not sure why agger isnt a first choice for br esp after making him vice captain. he might prolly leave too if he doesnt get assurances over first team play. loaning cissokho was a huge mistake. i know we needed cover for jose for his injury. flanno has done superbly for what was asked of him, considering hes playing out of position and hes raw. moses didnt do enough for me too. i know hes frustrated at not getting playing time. all in all, i honestly thought br, his scouts and ian ayre has done very poorly in both the transfer market.

another thing to note, tony pulis has not lost at HOME against us in the bpl. for all his time of long ball and long throw ins at stoke. now hes doing wonders for saving palace from the drop. ugh. another bogey team, or rather MANAGER to get past by ! props to him. he should be manager of the year.

i agree with some of you that suarez has to go. such a waste for a player that in my eyes can easily be as good as the likes of ronaldos and messis. on one hand, he contributed to a huge amount for our success last season, on the other, this image is really bad for liverpool on a marketing and branding scale on a whole. im sure the owners would have taken note. and to do it in the wc, the biggest stage ever, its such a disgrace. if we are offered a minimum of 70mil pounds, i'd gladly agree to his sale.

my two cents on our lads performing in the wc, esp the english ones:

gerrard was pretty poor, not sure if hes mentally down from the bpl season, or he has lack of support from the team.

henderson was okayyy in patches, good running as usual but offers close to zero when going forward. granted he has been tremendous for us during the season, but he looked like his "old self"(during his first season) when he was playing for us. not taking any risks, too easy on the eye. still has time on his side but would really want him to push forward on the domestic front.

johnson was bad. really bad that the press are calling for his head. going forward he's alright, as we all have come to known him for. an attacking full back. but as a full back, his main duty is defending. and it is piss poor. his positioning especially. maybe the lack of proper and solid full backs for england (with walker injured and others not stepping up) is the cause. no competition means no improvement. with jose enrique back and prolly a new left back signing in moreno or rodriguez, i'd like to see flanno on the right back. i kinda agree with the media that johnson is average at best. hes really good going forward. but thats all. and thats not enough if we are to win the league.

sterling was good in the first match, not so much in the 2nd, but hes only 19. and he can only get better. im sure he can go on and be better. looking forward to see more of him.

while its very refreshing to see 5 liverpool players in the starting 11, i am not sure if johnson or henderson really cemented their place for the coming euros qualification and euros. i am not sure what to think of henderson, i am not criticising him, just that hes average on all departments, more like jack of all trades master of none kind. he provides very little attacking flair or defence splitting passes like iniesta, or does he sees and covers dangers like busquests does. he doesnt control the tempo like pirlo. i know these are world class players im comparing him to, but i feel he needs to do more than just covering lots of grounds.

so we got emre can and lambert. i think lambert might come good for us, tho hes 32. one thing im skeptical about is a decent chunk of his goals for soton has come from the spot. hes been flawless there. im sure hes a decent plan "B" for us when it comes to breaking teams. havent seen much of can, but i remember him from football manager game. hes still young and he plays in midfield. so more competition in that area for lucas hendo and allen.

suso did pretty well at almeria, but im not sure we can give him enough game time for him to develop. i'd like to see what he can do for us, but sadly it looks like he will be shipped out, i just hope its a loan deal as hes still young and has potential to be good. if suarez is to leave, i wouldnt mind sanchez at all. speedy player, pretty good finisher and he closes down defenders alot, esp from what ive seen from chile matches. maybe its a team tactical thing. lallana is good, but for more than 20mil, im not sure if we can afford it. soton is playing hard ball with their top players. havent seen much of shaqiri since he joined bayern to judge. but reports are that he is valued about 16mil which i feel is a bit too much for a player who is used sparingly in bayern. then again, im not an agent so what do i know about value of players in the market. nod.gif

reina is coming back to us for now. not many interested parties out there. if we are to ship him out, i'd like to see a decent amount of change in exchange. 5mil is too little imo. i'd hope for about 8-10mil. i udst that br wants to get rid of him due to his very high wages, and his inconsistent performance. mignolet has done well for us last season, but only in patches. he has had errors too but its his first season in a "big" club so i would only judge his performance from this season onwards. i think manutd would be back way stronger next season and spurs might surprise us even more with pochettino in charge. so it is gonna be tight again at the top and i really believe that teams, esp the top 6 will adapt to us easier next season after reviewing our performance last season. i hope to be proven wrong again.
