Easy now, guys. No need to take shots at each other. Yes, it hurts but we should be proud with how the team has performed this season. From 7th last season to title contenders this season.

obviously he is looking at MC superiority on GD.

yes now we drop the game everyone can say we lost 2 points but seriously 3-0 up in 50+ mins and you know GD will be key to the championship, would you not go for it?
*
Definitely would have..but after conceding the first goal to Palace I would have slowed the game right down. Keep the ball. Preserve the lead. It was naive football the team played in the last 15 mins.

I just can't accept someone lavishing at 100 thousand pounds a week can't even defend properly...

FFS... 100k a week into the bank and he plays like rubbish...

Yes, the whole defense was bad but I've always questioned Glenn's defensive usability.
*
Don't we all question that? laugh.gif

He's been really poor the past 2 seasons in general. Never got back the form he had when he first joined us. Time for him to move on.

Personally, I'm disappointed we let a 3 goal lead slip but I'm still proud of what the team has achieved this season. Now some may lead you to believe that this means I don't see the need for improvements but I can assure you that's far from the truth. You can give someone a pat on the back and ask more of him.

Rafa is a perfectionist but in my opinion, he is guilty of micromanaging. Players are like chess pieces to him (quite literally since he doesn't really talk to them unless he is giving them instructions). Brendan is the opposite in that he allows players to express themselves. The truth always lies someone in the middle but if I had to pick one approach, I'd opt for the way we are currently playing. We play as though we fear no one and Anfield has once again become a fortress. Rafa would get it right against the big sides in Europe and then slip up at home against the likes of Reading and Hull.

We do indeed need to improve defensively but more importantly, we need to be smarter about when to attack and when to defend. You simply cannot sustain dominance over another team for the full 90. At some point, they are going to catch their breath and mount a counter offensive. It is during these times that we need to get men back and frustrate them to take the wind out of their sails. I think it's as simple as this. In the times we've given up goals, it's either down to a defensive error, or when the opposing team were enjoying a 15-20 minute spell of rejuvenation.
*
That bolded statement is very true. Better defensive organization is needed and it has to be done as a unit. Also, I thought BR overloaded on attack too much last night. Yeah, he might be chasing after the 10 goals or what not but letting both full backs push up so much was a gamble too risky in my opinion, especially when Pulis exploited it and sent pacey players on both flanks. Add the fact that Gerrard doesn't cover as much ground as quickly as he did years back and the defence looks absolutely clueless on how to deal with quick counter attacks. And we've been exploited the same way on many occasions during the past 2 seasons that BR has been in charge. BR should take this match as a harsh lesson. Sometimes, he needs to realize that the team needs a breather themselves and gotta slow down the game and hold the ball. Preserve the lead. "Death by football"

I find it odd that some are saying we aren't deserving of the title or we aren't championship material when we're still in second place. We aren't a perfect team but we're certainly title contenders. If we do win it, everyone will attribute it to the fact we've taken the game to teams the whole season.

Don't say like that lah...we're currently first! biggrin.gif

"If Manchester United fans want to laugh at us, let them; only one big club was a shambles this season. If they need to laugh at Liverpool to get over being so abject in 2013/14, so be it. We can always buy both clubs’ season review DVDs and have a good laugh."

Burnnnnn!!

"But if City do hold on, then despite relying on their wage bill (which can’t be much higher than Chelsea’s, who’ve done far less this season), they’d be deserving champions. They also have a manager with some class and dignity, much like Liverpool, but of course, unlike Chelsea."

Double burnnnn!! laugh.gif

No point listening to what they have to say actually. Masuk telinga kiri, keluar telinga kanan. They probably enjoy finishing in 7th, who knows.

QUOTE(whitesabre @ May 14 2014, 10:20 AM)
Yes we should reduce our wage level and use his wage properly on better players. We have Borini as our 4th striker, and with Suso getting better, we have 4th and 5th striker already. All we need now is a 3rd striker capable of challenging our top 2 strikers. Look at Man City with 3 world class strikers. We need that. For midfield, Lallana is good, but we don't really need Mascherano since we have Lucas and Gerrard too in the DM position. Left footed players are rare and we need a natural left back with left foot. Flano should go back RB. For Johnson, we should sell him now since we can still get a good figure out of him and then use it to further develop Flano and Wisdom. Kelly can be a good third choice.

What we need
1) A good goalie - heard we aiming Marshall from Cardiff
2) A top left back since Enrique hardly there
3) A good and commanding CB - sell Toure and Skrtel
4) A top left AM - Lallana is great, though I hope we get Reus since both feet as well. Good for tactical change.
5) A top striker as a third striker to challenge our top 2. We can't rely on them often.
*
1) Agreed. I think it's likely we'll sell Reina so we'll need an experienced PL goalkeeper to give Mignolet stiff competition.
2) Also agreed. I think Enrique is injury-prone. Will need a decent cover since Cissokho is not really good enough and Flanno playing there is actually not his natural position. Might as well ship Johnson off if a decent offer comes in and place Flanno at RB and get a good LB.
3) Wisdom and Ilori would be coming back from loan spells and Kelly is still there. Add the other four CBs (Agger, Skrtel, Sakho, Toure) and there's a surplus in this area. I'd prefer to keep both Toure and Skrtel. They are proven and offer valuable experience for the backline. I'd rather offload Wisdom and/or Kelly and get a good RB to compete with Flanno and/or Johnson.
4) Definitely need somebody to offer competition to Coutinho and Sterling. If there's a very good player who could actually play both wings (with the work rate to match his attacking abilities) up for grabs for the right price, I wouldn't mind at all. Right now, Lallana seems suitable but anything above 25M is too expensive. Reus is a good option too but I doubt he'd leave Dortmund (or more like I doubt Dortmund would let him leave since Lewandowski is going to Bayern laugh.gif)
5) Borini will be back but he still has a point to prove in LFC colours. Aspas for me doesn't cut it. Needs to go in my opinion. Certainly need a backup to Sturridge and Suarez - a proven one at least. We can't afford to have another Aspas-like player in the squad.

Milner not bad if he comes below 7 millions tag price. he can offer more physical threat since our forward players mostly small physical.
*
I don't think there's any chance of getting Milner below that price. He's English, he's still under 30 years old. I fancy him because he's a very versatile player and he puts in 100% effort everytime he's called upon but I don't think City will let him go though considering that their CL squad has been reduced to 21 and must still include 8 HG players.

QUOTE(moodswingfella @ May 19 2014, 05:28 PM)
this lovren is CB or LB/RB eh? kinda like his style, no nonsense defender.
*
He's a CB. Quite a solid defender. Just not sure whether he's comfortable playing the ball out from the back like Agger.

don't quite understand about the pot. can anyone mind to explain?  notworthy.gif

All based on UEFA coefficient rankings which are based on clubs' performances in European competitions in the past 5 years. The draw for each group will consist of a team from each pot. No groups shall have 2 teams from the same country iirc.

It's ok to be obsessive if they're good enough but the price must be justifiable. I'd rather not spend more than 20M for Lallana. He has had 1 excellent season, yes, but that alone doesn't demand a sky-high price tag.

Another rumour was 18M for Bony?? No thank you

Might as well go for Kono right since we were quite close to signing him last season. Tbh though, I haven't seen Kono or Miki play before so I can't judge which would be the better signing. Wouldn't mind Pedro coming. He's a very good player off-the-ball. With Coutinho's vision in his passing, it'd be really nice to watch.
