The problem with setting such a high release clause is that :-a) clubs may not bother to bid for him because there are several younger keepers with their futures still ahead of them that clubs can go for instead.
b) if clubs don't want to loan him, he'll add to our wage bill and affect our chances of signing players in other positions. Considering he isn't a dead cert to be no. 1, it doesn't sound feasible to keep him unless he's first choice.
Realistically, we should consider any offer above $6 million for him and look to add an experienced keeper for a reasonable fee to contest the no. 1 spot with him. Marshall would be a good catch if we can get a decent fee. Maarten Stekelenburg would come cheap and he has bags of experience at club and international level. He was Holland's no.1 at the 2010 World Cup and with Fulham having been relegated, the club will be looking to offload players especially ones they consider are on high wages. He's just as old as Reina.
