@@ really only 4.5?? WTH he's such a good player back then, should be set to 10m. Kolo 5mil still realistic ba.
*
The problem with setting such a high release clause is that :-

a) clubs may not bother to bid for him because there are several younger keepers with their futures still ahead of them that clubs can go for instead.
b) if clubs don't want to loan him, he'll add to our wage bill and affect our chances of signing players in other positions. Considering he isn't a dead cert to be no. 1, it doesn't sound feasible to keep him unless he's first choice.

Realistically, we should consider any offer above $6 million for him and look to add an experienced keeper for a reasonable fee to contest the no. 1 spot with him. Marshall would be a good catch if we can get a decent fee. Maarten Stekelenburg would come cheap and he has bags of experience at club and international level. He was Holland's no.1 at the 2010 World Cup and with Fulham having been relegated, the club will be looking to offload players especially ones they consider are on high wages. He's just as old as Reina.

With Lallana, the main question seems to be if he's worth the money?

Well we need to consider the amounts we shelled our for Henderson and Allen and why we paid top dollar for the duo? Allen hasn't lived up to his price tag but if Henderson has another season like the last, I'm sure we can all agree that he was worth it.

Now, back to Lallana. What does he have going for him?

1) He's an experienced player despite spending most of his career a rung below the Premiership. He has been a regular started for 6 seasons. He's captained the side since 2012 which suggests that he has leadership qualities. With Gerrard on the decline, we need a leader in midfield.
2) He's versatile, equally comfortable with both feet and can therefore play in a variety of positions.
3) He's creative and has created 68 chances this season, more than any other English player. Sadly, he's only had 6 assists but with better finishes, this figure would be higher.
4) The bloke can score. He constantly hits double figures in all competitions.

It will be a risk but given his all round attributes, perhaps less of a risk than Hendo and Allen. Clubs like Chelsea and Man City have shown that they are willing to spend on players which show promise and if he has a successful World Cup, they'll be willing to pay top dollar for him. Look at Shaun Wright Phillips, Scott Parker, Steve Sidwell and Jack Rodwell. The latter had scored much less goals than Lallana, was only 21 and Citeh paid between 12-15 million for him. I suppose it's a case of needed to strike when the iron is hot.

Our number of televised games stand at 28 games which is the most in the league this season.
*
The TV numbers are bound to go up as we're in the Champions League. If we can add to the squad and make deep runs in all the cup competitions, we'll be in a really good place.

FSG have done a great job in bringing in cash flow. I hope that this bit of news is given more attention because fans need to know what they are doing away from the pitch.

I can attest to the black & yellow kit earlier this century. Mine is signed by Liverpool legend Phil Neal and hence I've not worn it since he inked it.

I saw the earnings and was so proud we overtook MU as the higher Tv rights earner. Imagine being played on tv most of the time. Just go to show how exciting is our game.
*
It helped that the majority of our games were played on Sunday which I found weird considering we weren't in Europe.

Suarez is an idiot, end off. I really wonder what goes through that sick mind of his. There was no provocation from Chiellini but he decides to resort to cannibalism any way. I do wonder if he has a medical condition. In this instance I don't think the club should stand by him but instead give him an ultimatum. Shape up or ship put. If Real or Barca put $100 million on the table, I reckon the club will accept the offer and we can part ways.

It's one thing to be a flawed genius but it's quite another to be a plain prick. I can't defend his actions anymore.

On side note, what a showing from Costa Rica.

To put things in perspective, this is a nation of 4 million people who is ranked 28th in the World. They topped a group comprising of Italy, England and Uruguay, all of whom are in the top 10.

Take a bow lads, take a bow.

If the club continues to pamper him, history has shown that he will not repent. The club has stood by him and defended him all this while and he's taken it for granted that the club will do so unconditionally. He needs to be given an ultimatum this time round.

Sorry but I don't see how we accept his sort of behaviour just so long as he scores goals. As an ambassador of LFC, players should show the club some degree of respect. Charles Intandje got shipped out after he was caught laughing during the Hillsborough Memorial. So it were Suarez, we should have excused his behaviour?

Some LFC legends have been critical of his behaviour and this time, I'm on their side. He is embarrasing the club and disrespecting it.

QUOTE(hfi @ Jun 25 2014, 12:56 PM)
You are right we should ship out any players disrespecting the club like Intandge did and if Suarez did he too should be shipped out pronto. But Suarez wasn't representing the club yesterday. His behavior has been good through out last season. No bites, no scandals. Just goals after goals. Assists after assists. Magic after magic. Now if he had done what he did yesterday while representing us then my view on him would be completely different but he wasn't and therefore i cannot vilify him to that extreme.
*
He was playing for Uruguay but it isn't exactly a secret he plays for Liverpool. A player's reputation follows them regardless of who they are playing for at the time. Referees in the Premier League will no doubt have taken notice of this and so will Liverpool fans all over. The club needs to thread carefully here. We do not want to set a precedence of tolerating petulant behaviour

Not saying the club should punish him as it isn't in their jurisdiction to do so since he was playing for his country, and not the club but they should have a strong word with him.

He should go.....I thought Pepe behavior is the most idiot in this world cup but suarez just break it.....idiot at the max......

For the sake of our team, I would not want such player in my team anymore......

Alex Song was a bigger idiot than Pepe I feel. At least Pepe tried to mask his headbutt. Song made no such effort.

Agreed mate. I'm not advocating we should take this matter lightly and i hope the club and BR have a strong word with him. Ofcourse whatever he does somewhat affect us but i care more about what he does for us than what he does overseas. We cannot control things that are not in our hands. He's not perfect we all know this. He's got his demons to battle with and yesterday that ugly side of him overwhelmed him. But i know he's not a thug like Barton or Pepe. He has problems dealing with his emotions and passion, and i can empathize with that. I feel sorry for him because he's damaged and it will most likely haunt him for the rest of his life. But at the same time i can also understand people are getting fed up with his antics and are ready to see the back of him.

But whatever happens, i stand with the club. If the club feels he's beyond help then i will stand with that decision. And vice versa.
*
Funny thing is I could almost accept him more if he were a thug because at the very least, he'd deal with confrontation like a man. I don't like sneaky fellas biting or spitting.

I think it's a problem if no one isn't willing to bet against him doing something stupid again in a red shirt next season. I know I'm not that brave smile.gif

Can't really compare Suarez's incessant need to bite people with Cantona's kung-fu kick or Keane's diabolical challenge on Haaland as Suarez is a repeat offender. On top of that I can't understand what provoked him to do it? I mean Cantona was getting stick from a fan, Keane and Haaland had a running feud, Materazzi effectively called Zidane's sister a whore. What in the heck did Chiellini or Ivanovic do to Suarez to deserve a love bite?

It's like what made Tyson bite Holyfield

They all desperately want to win. Real bad.

Not defending Suarez, but like those gifted talents, there is a thin line between sanity & insanity.

He Suarez needs help. He's a kid in a mans body. He needs to be away from the spotlight for a while to seek treatment. The ban will hurt him, my guess it will be severe from FIFA and chances are the extension ban may spill to club football.

I don't want LFC to sell him. The ban should it covers club football, all likely will mean any interest will dim. To cash on selling him? Maybe long term it may be for the good of our club but short term we will struggle.

I know many will say we still have sturridge but in truth, sturridge isn't in the same class/league as Suarez. No disrespect to sturridge. The form he showed wasn't consistent enough.

But brace yourself for Liverpool's fortunes with Suarez, it will be unpresented action by FIFA  sad.gif

He faces a maximum ban of 24 months and given that he is a repeat offender, I reckon we're looking at a near maximum ban as opposed to a minimum one. If this is the case, we could be stuck with a very expensive piece of baggage.

That is if the ban extends to domestic competitions.

Sooooo many S's.... biggrin.gif

Won't believe any of the transfers until it's confirmed with photo shots.

We need to focus on our defensive unit. If all our rumoured transfers materialised, we are very top heavy! All attack and no defense? Ya, exciting to watch but can be very bad for the heart. Imagine not confirm winning even scoring 3-4 goals in a match coz we might got hit with 4-5! I mean, everyone can see that defense was our downfall last season. Also, midfield is not as strong as we would to believe. Gerrard's legs has gone. Lucas underperforming. Hendo is fit but he's not Superman.

We need more recruits in these department.
*
Really depends on how the younger lads have come along. I mean we do have options at centreback in Sakho, Skrtel, Agger, Coates. We have Johnson, Flanno, Robinson, Enrique, Wisdom and Kelly at the fullback positions. The last two can also play at centreback. To top it off we have the highly rated Ryan McLaughlin coming through the ranks and he could see first team action next season. We do have sufficient personnel though it could be said we can add to the quality if we offload some of the lads.

QUOTE(CityBluePrint @ Jun 26 2014, 12:53 PM)
Suarez is  a violent, deceitful, remorseless  & unapologetic footballer!
Some of you have compared his actions to Keano premeditated 'kneecapping' of City's Haaland. That Keane actions were worse because he arguably shortened the Norwegian's Professional career.

Let's backtrack to last summer Confederation  Cup a prelude to this year WC. Fighting for 3rd place, Italy's Chiellini had Suarez in his pocket. Both of them were carded by referee - like Holyfield -Mike Tyson I

This time around Italy WC was SHORTENED as Uruguay and Suarez  has the last bite. Shades of Holyfield-Mike Tyson II .

I have seen those matches (football & boxing)  in its entirety. Mike Tyson was humiliated & frustrated and that's what  led  him chewing EH ear lobe. All
his boxing skills & tools were no match to EH.  Thus Tyson resort to biting.

Why do children bite?
Sometimes because they are frustrated. Right?
Does that excuse Suarez  as an adult?
I castigated Suarez for his cheating against Ghana.
Then I was moved 180 degrees when he helped LFC back to CL.

Now I believed he is beyond redemption  because of above!

LFC & its supporters have to deal with him.

Its not Others' problem.
As for City's holistic approach that's another thread.  rclxub.gif

The only thing he has going for him right now is the fact he scored 31 goals last season. I believe that if it were any other player, the club would not have hesitated to cut ties with him. That being said, I've yet to see any one single interview where he reveals why he does what he does? The club should be firm with him this time round and he has to cut out his antics. Robbie Fowler commented on the incidence and he too believes that Suarez has gone too far.

For me it is never really just about football. The club and it's reputation mean more to me and if Suarez cannot learn to show the same about of respect for the club as previous legends like Dalglish and Rush have, then maybe this isn't the place for him.

Try as I may to empathise with Suarez, I'm finding his defence a little weak.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...on-9564111.html

1) Doesn't matter who came off worse. Fact of the matter is that Suarez bit him first and then got an elbow in the eye as a result of reflex. If someone bit me, I'd react as well.
2) Even if the media conspired, how does that change the fact he's bitten players 3 times?

Actual quotes from Robbie and Thommo :-

Fowler - "You can't defend him. He's continually dragging the club's name through the mud".
Thompson - "He's brought embarrassment and shame on our club".
