Anyone noticed this ROM called Upgrade/Update Lenovo S939 to 5.0 Lollipop?

Want to try it but the darn file is split into 3 and requires to sign up and kena charge sms subcriptions sum more.
Update: I just realised that the above Lolipop update is a scam! Do not sign up for anything cause the files are bogus and contains malware!  cry.gif

Thanks for the heads up. I had a hunch it is a scam but never really went on to verify.

I have no such problem. Currently I'm using VibeUI 2.0 latest stable version.

Yup me too.

Anyway, here an update to the Sound Enhancement Tweak. Lenovo Phone users should dial the following to tweak their sound among other stuffs to get into the Lenovo Engineer Mode

Dial: # # # #3333#

Btw, this tweak does not need your phone to be rooted. smile.gif

dear proud owners of lenovo s939...
i am browsing through the wide arrays of smartphones (with limited budget) and i need to choose one (i am buying for my wife, my dad, my brother and my father in law in fact)....would you guys recommend this phone.

i am a fan of samsung mega 6.3 (cant live without LARGE screen)...

Not planning to spend extra money for branded phone with similar features....

need you view on this matter...if you were me, would you consider buying this phone for your family?? or would you consider others....e.g. A806, A936, A916

just wondering, the phone is without 4G/LTE, does this bothers you??

in terms of usage, i belief my family would be using it for calls, video calls, whatapss, browsing the net...nothing heavy...

thanks in advance

Actually how many of us get to experience the real 4G LTE Speeds in MY? There is no difference at the moment until the LTE Network is fully established.

As for Video Calls, I dunno, Ive never actually come across it which makes me think if it is really available to the Phone.

Other than that, it works like a charm! smile.gif

The S939 is an excellent phone with great battery life. If big screen is a must, suggest you also look at the S930, though the processor is down as compared to S939 but at least the software is Malaysia ready. S939 is an AP set, software is still a bit buggy.
Video calls (native 3G video calls) are available in both the phones.
If you are enterprising enough, get the S930 AP set and flash official ROW ROM. It will be just like a Malaysia set. thumbup.gif

Id say go for the A936 if you can get it cause the 2GB of RAM will definitely useful and will solve the main shortcoming of the S939 due to its 1GB RAM limitations. Furthermore, Mediatek MT6752 is a newer CPU and fully supports LTE while 13/5MP Camera is an improvement over the current S939.

Other than that, I see no difference...

I've read that the software is limiting the performance of the hardware of the phone, is it true? hmm.gif

ROMs for the A936 may be limited since it's quite new while the S939 is quite established with many ROMs that removes all the crapware and unnecessary processes. But after a while, I'm sure the guys at NEEDROM will release better ROMs for the A936.

This is not recovery, it is just a phone testing menu.
For Lenovo phone, to go into recovery, u need to press volume up + volume down + power button.
At default, there is stock recovery only. You can rename your ROM to update.zip to flash with stock recovery.
After that you can flash CWM/TWRP for better function recovery.

Hi to all,

I am not a very tech person and have never rooted any HP or flash any ROMs. I have been using this remarkable S939 for over 6 months and recently received a notification on my HP asking whether I want to upgrade to this:-"S939_S923_VIBEUI_V2.0_1507_7.9.1_ST_S939"
My current version is "S939_S124_131211"
Should I upgrade? What are the consequences if I upgrade to this new version?
I have read here in this thread that if anyone upgrade, they may face the risk of losing all the Google Apps.
Anyone have upgraded or anyone can share their experiences or advices or a detailed steps on how to go about doing this?
Thank you to all in advance.....

First of all, I presume ur S939 should be a AP set, which hv been rooted.

If u update ur phone thru OTA, it will update to latest version of ROM for S939 from China, and yes, it do not hv Google apps like Play Store. If u want play store, u need to root ur phone and install urself, not easy for amateur user.

So, my advice will be, just stay with ur current ROM, do not update thru OTA. If u want different ROM, study the rooting stuff and install a custom ROM.

I changed to a custom ROM since day one I buy this S939 AP phone.
