QUOTE(JM10 @ Jun 21 2014, 10:29 AM) First stage interview is more on self-introduction. The HR want to know about your life, experience, and some general knowledge Thanks bro. And good luck for your second interview.QUOTE(BillySteel @ Jun 21 2014, 06:31 PM) I am not sure if things have changed or not but my experience on Murphy's interview in as below: Wow, thanks for sharing your experience bro. So u went for the first and second interview, did u manage to secure the job? Can u explain more about the second interview? What kind of group activities they asked you to do during your second interview? And did they ask any technical questions? The first stage will be one on one interview with the HR recruiter personnel. The personnel will ask you general questions to gauge your interest and from there they will place you for the next stage if selected. As per JM10 said on the first stage interview. Mine was at a hotel behind KLCC forgot the name. Second interview will be group exercise they normally do the usual activities like most companies but I think its best if you guys expect some sort of surprise....make the process a little more fun when expecting the unknown. Then after group playing session you will go for the interview with the hiring managers. During my time those at the career fair where the managers working at Murphy, went for second interview and was shocked to see those people jaga the booth are managers. QUOTE(mohdyakup @ Jun 24 2014, 12:50 PM) I think most of the question posted in this thread has been repeatedly discussed in previous O&G version thread. I might be wrong. Please abang2 & kakak2 sekalian use the search function in this LYN forum. I already tried to search my question regarding Murphy interview in here, but cant found any.Jangan marah yer. Tak salah posting your specific question. But I think it is wisely to search first at previous thread. |

QUOTE(empire23 @ Sep 8 2014, 03:54 PM) That kind of money is entirely possible depending on the scale and complexity of the project. Thanks for the reply bro. Coz currently I'm working as operation engineer for one of local contractor and earn quite good money for a fresh engineer. But i jz sent my resign letter to join operator as graduate project engineer. Hoping this is a wise move for me. I always dreamed to earn 5 figures income (base salary) before 30 years old, and i work very hard for it.Project engineer = Good salary but once you hit post handover and you don't get an offer to move to operations or a new project. You join the unemployment line. Also your roster is infinitely more shitty and stress levels are higher. Operations = Stable job, decent pay + benefits and better rotation. But your pay packet will suffer lah and you won't be exposed to the more challenging aspects of implementation. |

QUOTE(empire23 @ Sep 8 2014, 04:22 PM) Well it would depend on any future projects by the operator and whether there is a steady stream coming in. Also depends on the kind of contract you're being handed. Wow, u got paid in AUD? U work here in Malaysia or Australia? And how many years of experience u obtain before u reach the 5 figures salary? Wow u really motivate me. Currently u working with operator or contractor? It would be safer to be project engineer for operator compare to contractor right? But above all it depends on their policy when it comes to hiring and retention. I work as a project eng and I know that once our APLNG project is complete in 2016, all future projects will be far smaller and I'll have to compete for limited operations positions with engineers who have like 10 years worth of experience working for WorleyParsons, Hatch, UGL, Clough and Thiess (all dedicated engineering firms). Money is good now, 5 figures in AUD a month, but I worry all the time about my job. |

Hi guys.
I would like to seek for advise. Currently Im working as mechanical eng. with one of the top oil operator company in malaysia. I got a degree in mechanical eng. I plan to further my study (part-time) in master petroleum engineering. But still confuse whether it will benefits me or not since I already in this 0il&gas industry and already in a good company. Would it be a wise choice for me to go with all the troubles to continue my study part-time? I mean it would be a challenge right to work during weekdays, class during weekend. But if its really beneficial for my career path, in term of career promotion by having a master's degree, I think I would take up the challenge. Can somebody confirm and advise? Oh, btw I'm 26y and jz got married. And I'm in the process of making the Ir. title as well. So it would be a great by 28y old to have Ir. and master's degree. Kindly advise and share your thoughts. Thank you. |
