How much can I expect to earn in this industry? I know there's many types of Oil & Gas careers but which ones are higher-paying? Will it be hard to get hired (how's the applicant/vacancy ratio?)?

Straight A+ SPM graduate here with no idea what I want to work as for the rest of my life. Currently narrowed down my choices to pharmacist or petroleum engineer. Any help would be appreciated.  notworthy.gif

i would say follow your heart, every sector can earn lots of money too. Don't take your As too serious in future, once you enter those top notch universities, you would see the gap.

Hello Everyone! I would like to hear your kind opinion about a matter;

I am currently in a Graduate Engineer Program in a well known local O&G fabricator, where i have the opportunity to experience working in various departments in 1 year.
At the end of this program, I get to opt for the dept to get into permanently (subjected to management and my performance too).
By now, among all the depts, I am very interested in Testing & Commissioning and Project Management.

Between these two, which one should be chosen for best career path?? I should decide by the end of this year for permanent designation. Appreciate your brilliant opinion!  notworthy.gif

It is actually a fabrication yard where mostly topsides, jackets and modules are fabricated. Ships take only a small portion of the yard.
Thanks for sharing your view! But some say in the beginning of career, it is better to be in fully technical position before taking the managerial pos. They say you can be better than those who only being with the management from the start. I wonder how true this is??  hmm.gif

nowaday lots of shipyard build oil rig already
submi can be considered as a ship tho cuz it got pontoons which is also a ship smile.gif
as for the scope, PM can gain more insight in long term, it is no purely management, you need lots of techical knowledge too smile.gif
