QUOTE(Binyamin @ Jan 7 2015, 02:20 PM) Man, reading that gave me the rare WTF moment. So meaning they public list it to share the lost with other investors. So can I say that SSPC and SSB will sell oil to the refinery at a price to maximize their own profit and then Shell refinery which is public listed will buy it from them at prices set by them but have to sell at market price with a lost? Is that why they have been in a losing business all these years? Screwing the public investors and making money in the other 2 private company instead? I hope that's not the case. But F***, sounds like what a mega oil company will do. Trading side the price to consumer are fixed. When a company get listed, sure is use share holder's money to enjoy(if make profit) and share the lost(but still getting high pay) even if losing money.

Getting Started

Hi O&G sifus,
I have recently graduated in Bachelor of Quantity Surveying in 2013, and I have just completed my Masters Degree in Project Management in 2014 at Uni Sydney.
I am now actively looking for a job in the O&G industry since I have researched that it is a good move to start early in the O&G industry with my education background.
Any of you here know any good companies that have opportunities for fresh grads like me with the education background that I have?
Hope all you sifus can answer me, please PM me if you don't want to post here, I will be more than happy to receive suggestions!
Thanks!

But F***, sounds like what a mega oil company will do. Typically SSB & SSPC and other PSC's operator in Malaysia will sell their crude oil via PETCO, according to the PSC agreement. Shell PD refinery processing heavy crude if not mistaken. All Malaysian crude are sweet type & exported to overseas (at premium price), we never consume our own crude, except PP(T)SB refinery which process Tapis crude.

Tapis (light sweet) much more expensive compare to Brent and WTI. Tapis still sold outside to maintain the price. There is COSA for Tapis. Shell & PPM use heavy crude as they have facilities for that. Another things, we do consume our own crude (^__^)

QUOTE(mohdyakup @ Jan 7 2015, 10:03 PM) Yup we do consume our own crude via PPTAB refinery but very minimal, distribution only covering East Coast area. That because the PPT capacity is small. Petron/Esso also consume our own crude as both plant not design to run heavy crude. Our refinery production in Malaysia is not enough to cater Malaysian usage, that's why we still import. But Pengerang project suppose to turn this. Note : Supposedly PPM and Shell also consume our own crude as they can process it. All these crude can be mixed up as long as production get the product they want. Depend on cost, profit margin etc. (^__^)

Thanks yep. thats how it is with us offshore workers. in fact ONG companies knows that even better then us haha. even tho they do have phones on drilling rigs, but mostly used to contact your bos/base and to some extend your family and friends(this one do at your own discretion la haha ) its 100% ok. i my self highlight that in my applications, and resume. my phone isnt the best way to reach me. but if they called me during my time onshore then i will certainly pick it up.

Your best chance is to join clubs like toastmasters or lions club(Leo Club) You need to build relationship with them else you don't mean anything to them. Find a toastmasters division that are predominantly OnG employees. Degree holders flood their inbox for jobs by the truck loads in some cases.
