At only RM5750 you can get this one, the Canon EF100-400mm F4.5-5.6L IS USM : Longer range than Nikkor and weather sealed.

Your metering didn't fail you this time, it's your aperture. The leaves and branches that were closer to you is blurred. Plant shooting and model shooting is different ... objects closer to you that is blurred ARE distractions no matter how you put it. In model shooting, it's called object separation but in nature shooting, especially closeups, there is not object to separate becoz the entire onject is in the frame
