come and vote.

i personally vote for German cars.

Today,

my mother went for servicing for her Honda Stream RSZ,

absorber, linkage, mounting , brakes and suspensions all got problem, it costed her 5 digits of maintenance fees.

but this is just the 4th year of her usage of the car.

the spare parts are expensive because nowadays honda, toyota, mazda all imported their cars from Thailand that's why not reliable at all.

however,

my father's UK spec W210 been using for 11 years, accumulated maintenance fees only 7Xk (new engine + superchargers).

11 years only 7Xk, but this honda stream RSZ 4th year already need 5 digits, what's wrong with japanese cars nowadays?

not only my mom's Honda got problems, her friend's Camry suffer the same shakehead.gif

Lol, this is crap. My neighbor who is a doctor had a W210 and every time go service center, got this problem lah, that problem lah. He was so sick of the car. Dah lah travel only to clinic and back, never use car for outing, he had a CRV for that. IMO, most unreliable Mercedes of all time. My family use to own a 1994 Nissan Sunny and that shit was a tank, things rarely broke and needed replacing, somemore heavy use everyday. Biggest problem was in 2007 when the roof started leaking and we sold it off. Doctor sold of his Mercedes for Volvo S80 in just a few years, 7 I guess. You really wanna compare the reliability of a Japanese car with a Continental Car? Dad has a Toyota Camry now and maintenance is light on his pocket. Nothing beats Japanese IMO.

My old Iswara, drove it for 12 years. Maintenance less than RM5K. Only failed parts were power window motors, lock system and cassette player. The rest were the usual servicing - About RM100 every 5000KM.

Your argument is not concrete. Not all jap makes are problematic. I've been driving 2003 Vios till now no major issue only seat belt rosak and gasket oil leak. My friend's relative had been driving an old Merc he said every month have to spend 4 figures to fix various problems.

About safety having more airbags doesn't mean it is safer. It is about your driving altitude. My house has a Kancil no airbag since 2002 till now only light bumper to bumper accident.

If you're talking reliable and cheap, it has to be the Japs.

If you drive a German and something goes wrong...price-wise, it goes south very very quickly.

1) W210 maintenance cost is surprisingly affordable and parts are aplenty. those older Merc like W210, W202 etc don't really cost a bomb when it comes to maintenance as most people thought they would be. people's mindset = angmoh car, semua mahal.

2) japanese cars are reliable (majority lah, not all), but they simply don't have that kind of superior handling of conti cars, especially when compared with the BIG THREE (Merc, BMW, Audi). well, unless u drive a Lexus or Infiniti, then i got nothing to say.

3) those so called "CBU Japanese cars" from Thailand or Indonesia, please do not have extremely high expectation on them. yes they're CBU, but not directly from Japan.

Toyota Recalls 7.43 Million Vehicles on Faulty Window Switch

Toyota Motor Corp. (7203) began recalling about 7.43 million vehicles worldwide after the company detected a possible flaw that could lead the power-window switch to melt or catch fire.

The recall affects about 2.47 million vehicles in the U.S., 1.4 million in China and 1.39 million in Europe, said Joichi Tachikawa, a Tokyo-based spokesman. The Corolla and Camry are among the 14 models -- some produced as far back as 2007 -- subject to inspection and repair, he said. The company hasn’t received any reports of accidents because of the issue, he said.

The scale of the recall, equivalent to 93 percent of its vehicles sold last year, comes as President Akio Toyoda pushes to rebuild the company’s reputation for quality. Toyota, which recalled more than 10 million units in 2009 and 2010 for defects associated with unintended acceleration, took two years for its Lexus brand to regain the top spot on J.D. Power & Associates’ new-car quality survey in 2011. [Read more]

Toyota recalls 2.5 million vehicles in US for window switch fires

Toyota is recalling 2.5 million cars in the United States for faulty power window switches that can cause a fire in the driver's door, according to a statement from the automaker early Wednesday.

Toyota said that the driver's side window switches may not be completely greased from the factory, which can result in the switches sticking or feeling "notchy." If aftermarket grease is then applied, the switch could short and cause a fire. Among the included models: The 2007 to 2009 Camry, Camry Hybrid, RAV4 and Tundra; 2007 to 2008 Yaris; 2008 Highlander and Highlander Hybrid; 2008 to 2009 Sequoia; 2008 to 2009 Scion xA and xD; and the 2009 Corolla and Matrix. Maybe your neighbour's W210 is faulty/reconditioned/old batch? My father's one is the latest W210 of course lesser problems.

Sorry to burst your bubble, his car is not reconditioned. It was a brand new unit. The W210 was a rust magnet and had one of the worst transmission on a Mercedes. Roughest shifts on a Mercedes ever. Worst problem I think is the rust.

too bad, it suffers from the electronic door problem ==

sometimes when you're closing the door, the door will then open again through halfway then close back ==

come and vote.

i personally vote for German cars.

Today,

my mother went for servicing for her Honda Stream RSZ,

absorber, linkage, mounting , brakes and suspensions all got problem, it costed her 5 digits of maintenance fees.

but this is just the 4th year of her usage of the car.

the spare parts are expensive because nowadays honda, toyota, mazda all imported their cars from Thailand that's why not reliable at all.

however,

my father's UK spec W210 been using for 11 years, accumulated maintenance fees only 7Xk (new engine + superchargers).

11 years only 7Xk, but this honda stream RSZ 4th year already need 5 digits, what's wrong with japanese cars nowadays?
not only my mom's Honda got problems, her friend's Camry suffer the same shakehead.gif

Obviously the problem is because they are females.

A-class and CLA both got the same problem,

Their coupe-styled back doors that make tall people find it hard to enter the car.

Maintenance so far so good,

But don't get the AMG version for A-class and CLA because

they are just using a 2L engine to pump out 360 bhp.

Through a long run,

The small 2L engine will get stressed out due to the small engine but big turbos and horsepowers.

If you wanna get an AMG,

I'd recommend C 63 wink.gif
