Posted on xda but not much traction, maybe some here can help

I'm currently running .257 (4.2.2) on my ZU

- Rooted
- Dual recovery installed (CWM/TWRP)
- TA backed up
- Locked bootloader
- Stock rom
- I have Androxyde's Flash Tool

Question:

Can i just pop in any custom ROM (4.3 or 4.4.2) and just run with it through CWM?
Or do i need to have some other preps done before making these upgrades?

Would appreciate any answers to help with my questions, as there is so much information now that it can get confusing...thanks!

Bootloader unlock is as simple as using the flashtool, right?

What comes after that? Can i just apply a ROM from sd?

Get your bootloader unlock code from Sony, go here
once unlocked your bootloader, flash the packages that are needed for the ROM. some ROM comes with FTF and boot.img, so make sure you flash the files as per described by their instructions. normally the system files come in .zip files, so that you will need to flash from sd or internal storage via recovery.

thanks!

benny888, how's Carbon rom after these few days using?

i'm finding that i kinda miss the Sony styling (running GPe now) and may want to switch sometime in the future

also, what's a good screen protector (front/back) that is available? mine is pretty banged up already

thanks for the recommendations

i also did look at monx, and it looked impressive too.

never noticed PA on it, i was running it on my note 1 previously and enjoyed the phablet mode immensely, but since xposed came into the limelight, it doesn't really matter much anymore

Btw warranty till next month only...
Haha,i think no need to wait d...
Any recommended GPe rom??

Don't bother going GPe, it's just stock, and boring

try the other roms, there's quite a few now that can keep you busy for a few days

CandyRom, SlimKAT, PA

So far i haven't found a reason to move off CandyRom yet

Saw in Courts AEON BM, only RM1599. Very tempting. Still comparing this with Nokia1520. Currently using Note3 though.

if you have purchased apps off the Play Store, you'd be better off staying on with Android, no? Otherwise it'll be a waste of $ buying the apps then moving on to another ecosystem. And WP i believe still has a little bit more to go before maturing into an app-rich ecosystem

Just change to Candy rom but having few issue.

Com. Android. Systemui force close. (maybe mini gapps)
Looking for Stamina Mode alternative. (stop apps when screen off)

The rest is working well.  Smoother than stock rom and ram usage around 7xxMB(stock 1.2GB).

are you using beta gapps? If so which version? And which version of candyrom?

1. anywhere or anyone still selling the dock? know what's the cheapest pricing like now?

2. my camera seems to have some scratches right now, is this under warranty? (wishful thinking)
- more of the "coating" is being rubbed off. anyone experienced this?

1. You can get a replacement dock, which is cheaper but take note it will charge slower than original dock.

2. It's not covered. Even mine also had scratches. And what kind of coating did you mean?
*
looks like the UV coating rubbed off. Used a microfibre cloth and oakley lens cleaner to rub off the remaining. edges still have, but camera output now is back to normal (i hope)
