Thanks Andrew_1980 for link.

Base on Andrew_1980 experience, the Sony, Xperia & NFC logo at back is not printed at the shatter proof sheet.

As the front, we had no real confirmation whether it is printed at that shatter proof sheet or not.

  • New added animation, new waiting animation design.
  • All UI corner slighly curve.

14.1.B.1.510 & .526 Fake Hang and SOD issue and prevent solution

I am pretty sure all 14.1.B.1.510 got this issue as few user already try.
It happen in Local Malaysia firmware or Taiwan base.

Below is how to rectified the problem exist and prevent solution.

How to make startup fake hang happen
  • Tick Adapt to lighting conditions at Settings - Display - Brightness.
  • Un-tick Optimised backlight and shutdown the phone.
user posted image user posted image
  • Switch on the phone - you will facing the fake hang issue.
How to get SOD
  • After above scenario fake hang happen, wait until it load to phone, +/- 1 min.
  • Immediate locked the screen. Tada! Screen of Dead happen!
How to solved the issue
  • Force restart the phone - either take out the SIM card to let the phone auto restart itself or press and hold the red button beside SIM card and wait until 3 vibrate, the phone is switch off.
  • The fake hang still exist when the phone switching on, as usual wait +/-1 min to let the phone load in.
  • Tick back Optimised backlight and immediate shutdown the phone.
  • Now start the phone back, you will notice the fake hang during startup no longer happen.
  • No SOD also when locked and unlocked the screen.
Can we still not using the Optimised backlight?
  • YES - as long as you remember to tick back before plan to shutdown the phone.
Why I not prefer to use Optimised backlight?
  • The screen color more dull a bit and less pure black.
  • It is obvious noticeable when you slide left at App Drawer for more features of App Drawer, the dark grey will became bright grey in Optimised backlight.
Is SOD always happen
  • NO - It only happen when your boot-up facing fake hang issue.
  • Solution - always tick back Optimised Backlight before shutdown your phone until Sony solved it.
14.1.B.1.510 & .526- Others Issue
  • Chinese keyboard - swiping is not working when swipe in English at Small Keyboard layout.
  • Chinese keyboard - input not working proper when type in Chinese in certain website.
  • Flickering / Chopping YouTube video when watching directly under Chrome when the video not open by YouTube itself. This issue is not there when watching the video directly inside YouTube app.
  • Flickering / Chopping video same occur when download the YouTube video via third party app, example JetVD.

Arrgghh,5th....
The drop test really impressive....
Mayb due to larger contact are that reduced the impact...
But if drop on a edge/corner mayb will crack more easily...

Am very happy with it. Wondered if I should put on a tempered glass screen protector and the no name 5000mah power case.

Imo this is still the best phone ever since last year till now. Despite of slight superior hardware on note 3, but N3 performs no better than this, it only wins in term of camera and s pen.. Bump bump and keep up this legend thread. How I wish it has a better camera only.. I think I'm gonna buy GpE edition to keep for future.. But wait for further price drop again. tongue.gif

I've been toying that idea on my previous C6802 and found just too risky. I sold it cheap. Just last week, found someone selling the GPe and I bought it. Loving it since. No SOD, bugs and faster due to less weird crap apps. Now, 1 problem, KK disabled SD card write for 3rd party apps. On Sony pure ROM, also same issue but Sony apps can write onto SD card under Settings > Storage.

You can try flashing the tweaked GPE version from XDA. It is fast n easy just flashing from recovery. All the write issues to ext Sdcard is resolved. You need not even to wipe data.. But i didn't like it n flash back to stock kitkat using flash tool

EDIT : like what uncle benny said, there is a tweaked GPE ROM that is easy to flash.

You can try flashing the tweaked GPE version from XDA. It is fast n easy just flashing from recovery. All the write issues to ext Sdcard is resolved. You need not even to wipe data.. But i didn't like it n flash back to stock kitkat using flash tool

Mine also prefer sony stock Bcoz not lagging like TouchWiz..normally with samseng I prefer GPe rom.... I'm.also running GPe on my p1000... Still ok until now..

Anyway, not planning to root the GPe because unable to backup TA partition. Otherwise will lose both X-Reality and ClearAudio+.

Waiting for exploit type root.

2 hours only 1%? That means you have a clean 100% charge. If not clean, it will drop 1% in an hour.

I could say its 50/50 chance. The phablet is mainly served as an entertainment station, so i dont think people will be interested to buy it unless they want a tablet with call function.

But i still do hope there is Z1/2 Ultra.

if you need a phone, buy now. we cant guarantee when the Z1/2 Ultra will be announced as Sony is working hard on their Z2 flagship.

for AP set, RM1318
for ori set, RM1658

the problem could lay on the type of digitizer. think about how sharp or metal objects can work on the screen, without the need of static. but after updating to 4.3 and later, the screen somehow wont register touch from pen or pencils? hmm.gif

Get the AP LTE for RM1318. More worth it, then with the extra money saved, get a good screen protector, back and front. A good casing and Magnetic Charging Cable. You're good to go then.

if you want to fit the phone inside your pocket, you need a large pocket. no large pocket, put it into bag.
for tight pants, i dont recommend it but you still can put, if you able to handle thigh pains.

Okay
noted with thanks.

btw, 1 more question.
Do I need to put screen protector??
As I know, there is a glass screen protector on it. But still very easy to get scratch.
And if remove the glass, the Sony logo will be removed also.

So, can I apply screen protector on the glass??

no. glass is more resistant to scratches even if you have sharp objects in pockets unless if there are sands.
i also applied a glass protector on top and till now there are no visible scratches except the adhesive layer of the phone, which i believe is manufacturer's defect.

Its the anti shatter film, not glass. Thus will scratch. Personal preference plays important role in deciding whether to apply SP or not. i personally prefer to use SP as i know i will scratch the ASF

So we can apply SP on it and remove the SP without affecting the ASF??

Okay
noted with thanks.

btw, 1 more question.
Do I need to put screen protector??
As I know, there is a glass screen protector on it. But still very easy to get scratch.
And if remove the glass, the Sony logo will be removed also.

So, can I apply screen protector on the glass??
*
Just apply it, once the shatter film scratch then it will be like that forever. You can't replace shatter film unless change new display which cost 1.2k

I remember someone asking and posting an ipmart link about the no name 5000mah battery case for a hundred bucks.

I just got it yesterday. And actually it quite good. It even charging when I'm playing around with the phone.

I have one serious issue with the tweaked version as quite often it show I have insufficient storage to install app. And I still have 6gb space left inside internal memory. I Google's n tested out all available solutions but problem persists.
In the end I gave up n flash back to stock kit Kat using flashtool.

Sales of XZU is too low to have Sony releasing an update model...if you want a big size phone just consider lower specs T2

try wait a day or 2. if 2 days still wont recover, worry the water might trap inside the membrane, which could take a very long time to recover the loudness.

GO to Plaza Berjaya (opposite Times Square) and get it replaced at Sony Repair Centre located there. Should be around RM3X.XX if not mistaken.

I have no problems with it
Vs Note2, Note3 its claimed writing ability is poor. Brief short words are OK n not long sentences. Pencil will work n only some ball point pen

It lacks a flash LED at back n due to its waterproof features phone speakers are much softer.

Overall performance comparable to Note3

you need to flash back to .536 firmware (older jellybean) if you want to remain your DRM keys.

Decided to flash back to GPE firmware n this time I don't see anymore storage insufficient errors to install app.
Switch to ART n I must say very impressed. Apps open much faster n whole phone seems smoother too. Yet to find any app incompatible with it..at least so far all my commonly used apps had no problem

Just would love to confirm with other user; does sony need it product to register for warranty like samsung or htc.
Check on previous thread, but no one mention of this.

Just warranty card and receipt, then that all goes in case needed it in the future , right?

try reflash your ROM with Sony PC Companion. could be a corrupted system when updating.

Not necessary to register. Registering is only good for email notices from Sony n you will get many of these
As long as is local authorized distributor Sony will accept with receipt shown

Most probably on 4.3 . My friend just bought an unit 2 weeks ago. Again depend on seller's stock position. No correct answer at this point. He was prompted immediately to update once he switched it on

Never faced such an issues on the official kitkat and 2 other custom roms I have tested.. I think is probably some of his apps issues causing such a problem. All my apps are official ones from playstore
*
My apps are from playstore too. Maybe some kinda corrupted file. Will redo the rom thing later and see how.

Most probably you have inserted your simcard in wrong direction. Take out n try again

less likely, as the tray only fits the sim one way only.

have you used any nano sim adapters for the sim, adapters have a tendency to break the sim connectors

Posted on xda but not much traction, maybe some here can help

I'm currently running .257 (4.2.2) on my ZU

- Rooted
- Dual recovery installed (CWM/TWRP)
- TA backed up
- Locked bootloader
- Stock rom
- I have Androxyde's Flash Tool

Question:

Can i just pop in any custom ROM (4.3 or 4.4.2) and just run with it through CWM?
Or do i need to have some other preps done before making these upgrades?

Would appreciate any answers to help with my questions, as there is so much information now that it can get confusing...thanks!

Bootloader unlock is as simple as using the flashtool, right?

What comes after that? Can i just apply a ROM from sd?

Get your bootloader unlock code from Sony, go here
once unlocked your bootloader, flash the packages that are needed for the ROM. some ROM comes with FTF and boot.img, so make sure you flash the files as per described by their instructions. normally the system files come in .zip files, so that you will need to flash from sd or internal storage via recovery.

Try going to setting and change to mass storage rather than MTP.

My pc sometimes can only detect any peripheral if the 1st connection is done when there's Internet around. So that it can install the driver. If not. It won't even recognize it afterwards.

Some time using MTP won't work at all. No choice there as nexus 10 only has MTP support.

So nowadays I just use airdroid to transfer stuff.work every time.

It work either if both devices are on the same wifi or the pc is using the phone Hotspot.

Fire up the browser. Put the link on the url and then can transfer files without even using any wire.

Check whether your caps lock was on ??
If it is not on than likely problem is your boot.img file is problematic. Try reflash the rom using flashtool or just flash boot.img file in fastbootmode
If still fail then send in service center to check

You can safely flash any version of the ftf file ( any country) as long s is model C6833...try stick to Asian/Europe version for more assurance

Guys..
need opinion.
is it convenience to make this tablet as a daily usage phone?..
im looking at a sleek and thin design.
im narrow down to xperia T2 ultra and Z Ultra.
T2 Ultra, fit my palm just nice and the thickness no doubt melt my heart.. but apparently T2 lacks of many things..
now im looking for Z ultra.. but because the size no doubt is huge for a phone.. im in dilemma to choose which 1..
i dont want to be laugh subject when talking a call..

pls advice

Better dont try.
I use metal bumper to reinforce it...
So whenever i wear tight jeans, i will feel a bit uncomfortable but the hp wont bend or break easily...

you may feel uncomfortable with tight jeans/pants but the phone wont break.
i feel lucky that all of the pants i bought do have good ergonomics for phablets.

now even buying phones also need to research on clothing that fit your phone. shakehead.gif

Why would anyone sit with the phone inside their pocket? I never do this . The phone might bend and crack.

I'm thinking to sell off my s4 and get 6 inch device. My eyes are straining on 5 inch cry.gif

1) What is the price range for Z ultra Original?
Nvm got the answer, it's around 1.6k

2) How many remaining of GB (Bersih) left after the bloatwares/etc ?

Thanks in advance

After a bit of research, I found out that the Z Ultra has probability for screen cracking due to heatness. Anyone know about this?

+1 for this, I sit with Z Ultra inside my SIDE pocket.

AFAIK the phone wont bend unless you put it inside you backside pocket (You sit like this with 6inch big phone won't felt uncomfortable wtf?)

The phone won't bend if the jeans aren't tight enough. The jeans fashion nowadays are tight as legging haha biggrin.gif. My perception is based on that. (ps:I dun wear very very tight jeans though tongue.gif )

I only do as you do only if I'm on not jeans.

try a factory reset after update.
probably it could be a software bug. apparently i reported it to Sony about this but still no news from them.

they shouldnt go any thinner than 6.5mm as it is very thin enough for me.
if they go any thinner, the battery is one of my concern.

also, best if they could include front facing dual stereo speakers and maintain the IP58 rating. rclxms.gif

13MP with a flash is enough for me, best if dual LED. and most important, better image processor.
3.2MP front facing camera is unnecessary, but Snapdragon 805/810 SoC is a must, not 801 SoC.

just a new idea for waterproof, hope Sony coats the internal parts with thick coating, so no flaps will be used and definitely more waterproof than water tight seals.

just a new idea for waterproof, hope Sony coats the internal parts with thick coating, so no flaps will be used and definitely more waterproof than water tight seals.
*
wont work, other parts like antenna, flex cable, etc still need to be clipped on, and water will leave residue and eventually it will fail in time (rust) and shorting the board from the residue

hmm, so i see the flaps are still necessary then.
adding another coating to the semi-conductor to provide maximum protection should be better i guess?

by the way, any known brands that makes corning gorilla glass protectors for Z Ultra? wanna replace my sh*tty glass protector.

i hope it can at least have a locking/clip mechanism for the flaps. so when we open the flaps, it can be securely lock at the side instead of left it dangling around.

no parts for replacement and service cannot be related la bro. people also wanted to serve you but they are subjected to parts availability.

mnsnazri unless if they replace they watertight seal after repair. once they opened the back banel with hot air gun, the adhesive will lose its stickiness properties, so the phone will prone to water entry.

its because of the magnetic cable. my magnetic cable is so screwed that it needs some adjustment to make it charge but riding over some humps will stop charging, or to say loosen it.

because the magnetic cable has a LED indicator; red is charging while blue is not/full.

i'm finding that i kinda miss the Sony styling (running GPe now) and may want to switch sometime in the future

also, what's a good screen protector (front/back) that is available? mine is pretty banged up already

why dont try Paranoid ROM? you can extremely customize the phone anyway you like.

for screen protector, go for glass type ones but glass type for the back is pretty rare.

Fine. If you want Sony stuffs another very good rom is Monx ( he is a fellow Msian chap). His rom comes w xposed installer for your further tweaks
Carbon is AOKP which is bit higher specs vs GPE n runs on Cyanogen kernel

I have tried paranoid before on all my previous Nexus n was never impresssed
Rom is heavily bloated n I don't use most of the added features
I might reconsider
My rom recommendation now is Monx or Carbon.

normal. the rubber seal on the flap is loosen/damaged because your mom constantly open and seal the flap, in order to charge the phone.
if replace the flap could cost around RM30, which im not so sure.

next time buy the magnetic charger or charging dock, which is the best solution to prolong your flap's life.

i see. what about Slimkat, have you tried
Yes but I took it off. The rom is lean n is good but dunno why in lowyat forum all attached YouTube videos appeared as white boxes n cannot be played at all. Tested on chrome, dolphin, boat n next browser
Other websites youtube videos can be played

hi all, digi DG SmartPlan™ 148 now got free Z Ultra, worth to get it?
Currently i am using plan 88, so need pay extra 60 for 24months, please advice smile.gif

Is only worth if you need to use up to 6gb of data each month...at end of 24 months you get a free phone
However 24 months is a long commitment n in the 24 months period you could see several new n better models available
Lastly generally Digi LTE services is poorer vs Maxis n Celcom.
Decision will be based on your data usage n places you frequently are at

thanks for the recommendations

i also did look at monx, and it looked impressive too.

never noticed PA on it, i was running it on my note 1 previously and enjoyed the phablet mode immensely, but since xposed came into the limelight, it doesn't really matter much anymore

remove the adapter perhaps will do? wondering too.

btw, my OEM dock have universal support, so as long Sony maintain the design of the magnetic port, its usable.

At least Sony doesn't implement the Apple "original" lightning cable chip detection policy. shakehead.gif

I used a Niilkin SP n is advisable as the anti shatter film is easily scratched.

welcome back your phone, bro. rclxms.gif

yes, it is very advisable to have screen protector if you dont want that ASF scratched and retain the Sony logo. i removed mine two months ago, and replaced with glass protector (with sh*tty quality).

Rooting this phone is easy
Use flashtool n choose fastboot mode n just flash a CWM/kernel cum image file. It just take few seconds only. Than boot to recovery n flash supersu zip

Tested CM11 ( android 4.4.3) ROM past one day.
ROM is lean n stable
First flash camera issue / freeze n reflash again solve it
I did not flash the boot.IMG file as recommended in all CM Roms - both my 3g/LTE n WiFi working fine

best SoT tested is about 5hrs and 30mins (max 6 hours), with WiFi on.
Z Ultra is amazing, with such a big ass screen, the battery can last you for a day on a single charge.

Depends on how you use your phone
Mine usually 80% on internet stuffs n 3g always on 24/7 minimum is 6 hours SOT . If I connnect mainly to wifi 7 hours n sometimes even 8 hours
This phone built in stamina mode is amazing n best I have ever seen in any phone. In standby mode even over several hours battery level hardly dip beyond 1%

Guys i can only get my headphones worked when i plug in sony headphones, other headphones just couldnt work on the phone. Even on sony headphones, i would still face some issues like disruptions in the middle of playing songs, sometimes i have to unplug and replug the headphones when i put my phone in the pocket listening to mp3 mainly due to the sensitive of the headphones jack like when something touch the headphones head, things stop working for a while.

Those with headphones problems should sent in for checking. My unit works with all the headphone sets I have . I don't think is firmware issue
There is no problem with official kitkat and all the custom roms I have tested

Guys i can only get my headphones worked when i plug in sony headphones, other headphones just couldnt work on the phone. Even on sony headphones, i would still face some issues like disruptions in the middle of playing songs, sometimes i have to unplug and replug the headphones when i put my phone in the pocket listening to mp3 mainly due to the sensitive of the headphones jack like when something touch the headphones head, things stop working for a while.

this is a software problem after update. you should clear the cache after update.

Want to ask, do you guys apply the plastic screen protector on top of the anti shatter film (asf) or do you guys take out the asf 1st then apply a screen protector?

Would it cause any touch screen sensitivity problem if i apply the screen protector over the asf?

Thanks

plastic wont affect much about the touch, even with a thick type (glass protector in this case).

Not sure, didn't see the packaging. Just ask the guy to pasang to my phone.

Btw how to know whether our phone is AP set or ORI set without the box? I bought it without any of the accessories from my friend.

1. call sony centre with your imei (03 21452989)

2. check for round warranty stickers on the unit (CS for Comsat, 1G for 1Gadget, Brandstar for DirectD)

attempt to flash Monxdified ROM directly (which is a totally wrong way) to a GPe ROM.
now flashing back to stock FTF, then re-do everything as possible.

What do you mean wrong way ?
You must select factory reset n the rom will flash fine over the GPE rom
If you do not than it will keep rebooting
I have tested this n eventually refresh by choosing factory reset

GPe and stock ROM's boot.img is different. to run GPe, i need to flash the boot.img so i could able to boot GPe, before this.

i flashed directly and i tried clear dalvik cache and factory reset but i still ended up a bootloop.
but now its ok, and i flashed Monxdified.

I never bother to flash boot.img even for the GPE rom n it turns out fine
You flash this boot.img only if your phone fail to install wifi settings

Go n read up forum xda on flashtool. It is a program to flash firmware . You need to download the firmware file (ftf) first n copy it to the firmware subfolder of the flashtool folder ..you can download any Asian firmware to flash
Or just Google flashtool for Sony phones

http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra
It has plenty of guides on this phone. Spend some time browsing it

I do not like to use SUS as it delete all your phone data n it download firmware online while flashing
Flashtool allow you to keep data intact n is very fast to flash the firmware. You can download first the firmware

Bad luck. My C6806 GPE stuck at Google screen after updating to 4.4.3 yesterday. Anyone know how to reset back to factory via hardware buttons? I can go into Fastboot but none of the Sony tools will recognize it. I believe these tools are looking for Sony specific ROM IDs.

Use flashtool to flash firmware since you can boot into fastboot mode. Connect the phone only after you have launch flashtool and you see prompt to connect phone

try draw with your finger at first try, then redo the test and wait and see if there is ghosting (self touching), if there is ghosting.

Alas after a few months of usage, my ultra is now broken. Water got into my phone. Turns out the rubber on the charge flap came off while it was in water. So ultra users, take care of that.

Btw, does anyone know where I can repair this phone for cheap in subang area? Sony is out of the question, becausenAP set. (Regret my decision now)

Thanks for the response Aventador700lp!

I've put the poor thing in rice overnight, and then left it to charge for a few hours (thinking that some electric fairy might come and revive my phone). Would drying still work?

The phone was wet to the point where the front and back cameras got water inside. Was yours the same?

Add: If my phone works without repair, I'm interested in your Incipio case hehe biggrin.gif

Open the usb flap and microsd flap, take out simcard and microsd card, then use a fan pointed at the microsd slot, put it like many hours, then I think it will dry.
And check the litmus paper beside the microsd slot,if it is white that mean your're fine.
