I dont think it will,and after disabled google service,some app might not work properly like YouTube,chrome.
If your phone is rooted you can just download SetCPU or other CPU tool and underclock the CPU speed,stock is 2.15GHz set lower like 1.5 or 1.0. This sure increase battery like, but slightly slower performance.

Using Google play edition ROM,don't like the Sony ui.

Its easy to me since I flash all my android phone,you just need to install custom recovery for your z ultra,there's for locked and unlocked bootloader,after that just download the google play edition ROM and put in your sdcard,then just boot into recovery and flash.
There's some precaution like backup your data or something like that.
Same as root your phone,you must get custom recovery first.

On google play rom get more than 6hours,wifi on all the time

I think android L will have better battery life,the ROM with best battery life that I have use is stock Sony 4.3,standby 10hours not even decrease a % with stamina mode on.

The google play edition ROM has disable ota update,you can either flas gpe android L or ftf to stock Sony to recieve sony's android L.

Gpe is not like aosp,aosp is based on cyanogenmod or paranoid android,if you flash gpe rom on non gpe z ultra it's basically like convert to gpe z ultra just without the update.

Actually we get support from developer The gpe get support from google.

The gpe will get android L very soon,then the developer will port for non gpe.
