I'm a Z10 STL-100-1 user myself.

Specs wise, the Z10 > Z3, except.. "size".

a) screen size (LOL)
b) battery size (LOL)

but otherwise, the Z10 is actually a good bet. If you're getting the 3G model (STL-100-1) which is a DIFFERENT CHIP (TI OMAP + PowerVR SGX544) vs the STL-100-2/3/4 models that run on Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 + Adreno 225.

I'm not so sure what is the advantage of Adreno 305 vs Adreno 225, but higher numbers = better right?
But the z3 comes with 5mp, and the z10 comes with 8. Not sure how big is the REAL world difference is.

But i'll advise you that if you buy the Z10, you really, really need to buy the battery bundle . The battery dries up real fast on the Z10. But with the newer software on 10.2.1 vs 10.0, it is a BIG world of difference. very big.

What I can guarantee is that the Z10 won't be losing out on the 10.3 update (unlike the previous generation of BlackBerry legacy devices, where if you buy the generation 6, you can't have generation 7 OS, etc)
I suggest you play around with a z3 first, then play around with a z10. For me, I solved my z10 with a powercase (very bulky), but a battery charger bundle is definitely much more preferable.
If only I can get the z30 battery bundle, it will be WORTH it!

If you are in a real hurry, I will recommend you the Z10 instead. The Z3 , at the moment, imported price is around RM750.

Z10 (3G only) is about RM600. But if you can wait for 1-2 weeks, the stock will arrive in Malaysia, but even then I don't think the price is below RM600.

To sum up:

Why Z3:
Fits all what you asked for (communication,  battery life, GPS is available)
Good battery life. (the z10 sucks, really sucks)
As good as the Z10, in some cases EVEN BETTER in single app performance.
Why Z10:
Better specs
may be cheaper than Z3 when Z3 is initially launched
slightly better specs for the same price range (2GB RAM, can have up to 8 active frames)
WARNING:
but GPS, the problem isn't with the hardware. The REAL problem is the maps. BlackBerry Maps is okay, Google Maps is also okay (need to download a 'special' edition, remove the dependency on Google services). I'm not sure what kind of detail you need, but if you only need Google Maps, and you're okay using the web browser version (which is kind of the same, really), should be okay.  But you can still punch in coordinates, and it still tracks where you are reliably. Just that take the maps with a pinch of salt. As usual.

There are paid GPS apps, but if you already have them in your Android device, you can load them (unless they use Google Services)
If you already have the z3, have "SNAP" (an app to download from google play store), you can use this.

Basically you download the APK, put it into your computer/laptop, and it removes all GOOGLE APPS dependencies, and you have a fully functioning Google Maps on your BlackBerry Z3.

yes agree with @Xirality, the price should never touch 700 n above, or its bye2 for blackberry to rise up again.

why would people bother buying, its only dual core procs n 1.2niggaherz somemore.
price vs specs ratio just aint balance for a 700rm price point.

@hyperyouth_firepower : am not poopoing dat 1.2niggaherz, its just not suit for >700rm mark in my opinion, 1.5niggaherz is reasonable but not 1.2. dont mad at me. am just an old man who thinks phone should have higher basic specs in 2014 than years before. i see no reason why it should b more expensive than z10, thats all.

but it'll b selling around rm6xx anyway (if the prediction is correct as @namh posted), its a relief, so chill, z3 is a good phone in a good price.
