if there is a z3 lte, i will wait and skip the z10

hi, consider this model, blackberry totally new for me, as i only iphone+ andriod user...

currently reading the blackberry for dummies that pinned at first page.

while reading. hope some sifu here can guide me

my budget 600 max to test out a new platform, you guys recommend me go for this z3 or get a 2nd hand unit? i think i will only test use for few months only and i also don mind 2nd used set. i jsut want to try out the latest blackberry experience . i use win7/8 , android , and ios. blackberry is the only area i nvr touch...

oh, my usage is only social apps like facebook, whatsapp, email gmail, company email, hotmail, take picture, dropbox, google map (not sure got or not) and listen to music.

camera quality is optional for me as i mostly still use iphone took picture.
all sugegstion are welcome  and thanks.

Yup, surprised with such a low spec cam. User nowadays mostly uses phone cam to take casual pix; replacing compact cams. As such, anything lower than 8Mp is considered no good. 5Mp will take a lot of convincing to do.

Hi all, i just bought a BB Z3 and i use whatsapp n wechat quite a lot. So far, whatsapp is working fine but i have few problem for wechat.

Firstly, i can't restore the chat history from wechat server as there is no option for me in wechat native apps.

Secondly, the notifications for wechat is not working. I only can view the messages after open the app as other social apps like whatsapp is working fine.

So, can any situ here to advise me on solving the above problem. Thanks!

If you're not in a REAL hurry, I'll suggest waiting for the Z3 LTE version. When its released, because it has better specs to accomodate the LTE chip (i'm not sure WHY exactly, but its kinda confirmed, at least on leaked OS's documentation) and so it'll actually accomodate better stuffs, like an upgraded RAM to 2GB, increased speed to 1.5GHz, and a 8mp camera (which right now, is unconfirmed either to be a Samsung unit or a Sony unit since there are drivers for both) to fit.

Of course it will be pricier than the current 3G version of Z3, but I'll say its worth it. Assuming that the current Z10/z30's 8MP camera is anything (its actually the same as the iPhone4S, but the software tuning is not as good) to say, its definitely STILL a better choice than the sensor in the current Z3 models.

Are you using the native? try changing it to the Android version.

btw, the wechat native isn't really native, its just an android port that's super-out-of-date.

Hi, thanks for your input. My problem solved. I downloaded the latest android version from wechat website, it works fine now. I managed to restore my chat history and the notifications will only work if let the wechat open in the background.

The BB native app for wechat really lousy, not so good compared to other platforms. Whatsapp is working fine though.

Now my BB keeps rebooting when open up wechat.
Wechat sux on BB OS10.

I just used wechat android version for few days, so far no issue except need to open it in the background to receive notification. Perhaps, you can try download android version from wechat website and see whether it could solve reboot problem.

How to d/load android version?
BTW, can you check in your Z3 keyboard, if can enter into next line
without using lots of spaces.

Sorry for late reply. Just go to wechat official website and look for what's new and click android version 5.3.1... it will lead you to the page. Then, click "Download the Installation Package", you are good to go.

You are right. There is no enter key on Z3 keyboard as well. So far, i only noted my wechat got enter key, the rest like whatsapp, text message, BBM, all don't have that key. It is replaced by the "Send" key...

I'm a Z10 STL-100-1 user myself.

Specs wise, the Z10 > Z3, except.. "size".

a) screen size (LOL)
b) battery size (LOL)

but otherwise, the Z10 is actually a good bet. If you're getting the 3G model (STL-100-1) which is a DIFFERENT CHIP (TI OMAP + PowerVR SGX544) vs the STL-100-2/3/4 models that run on Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 + Adreno 225.

I'm not so sure what is the advantage of Adreno 305 vs Adreno 225, but higher numbers = better right?
But the z3 comes with 5mp, and the z10 comes with 8. Not sure how big is the REAL world difference is.

But i'll advise you that if you buy the Z10, you really, really need to buy the battery bundle . The battery dries up real fast on the Z10. But with the newer software on 10.2.1 vs 10.0, it is a BIG world of difference. very big.

What I can guarantee is that the Z10 won't be losing out on the 10.3 update (unlike the previous generation of BlackBerry legacy devices, where if you buy the generation 6, you can't have generation 7 OS, etc)
I suggest you play around with a z3 first, then play around with a z10. For me, I solved my z10 with a powercase (very bulky), but a battery charger bundle is definitely much more preferable.
If only I can get the z30 battery bundle, it will be WORTH it!

Yup. WeChat got enter key. But i'm using android version WeChat. The enter key is on the right side of the last row of the keyboard. In other apps like whatsapp and BBM, that key is "Send" key, but in WeChat, it's "Enter" key.

Actually, BlackBerry is also currently running a contest – if you already own a BlackBerry or knows someone who owns one you just have to take a picture of yourself with the BlackBerry and tell them (http://www.stopmissingout.my/) how BlackBerry “keeps you connected” and you stand a chance to spend a day out with some local celebs by going on shopping spree or even a foodie tour. No wonder BB in so bad shape.

Just toyed around with my new Asus Zenfone 5 (my mother bought one for me, since my Z10 is now sent for RMA/repair, and I have to thank the folks in BBUGMY.COM for helping me out), and I just realized that the Z3 is still a better alternative to the other Intel powered / Snapdragon 400 series in the 5.0 screen size frame.

Forget about the high end PPI, forget about the specs, the user experience is just different.

I wanted a unified, push-ready, actionable inbox. I can get that in Android, but I have to pay RM50, and I'm at the mercy of the developers. Why should I?

I have to pay extras just to get a BlackBerry-esque feature, and darn right I should have.

After all, a BlackBerry is for action, not reaction, not "put it later I'll view it on my laptop".

For whatsapp and test messaging, you can go to the setting of these 2 to turn off the "enter key is send" function. Once you turn it off, the enter key will be in the keyboard. For BBM, it seems can't change that yet.
