Ok, to be brutally honest, my friend who was also offered a 2 year contract with Maxis based in Subang Hi-Tech complained a lot about the job and the benefits.
Fact: As a contract employee, your basic will be higher but your benefits will not be as good as permanent Maxis employees.
Fact: As an operations support engineer, be prepared to work on weekends and on night shifts.

Yeah, to be honest, a lot of companies are moving into that policy and hire based on contract. Easy to trim staff that they don't want and cheaper solution.

Shift to other telcos from Maxis means 24hour resignation. Usually it comes with most companies when you are moving to a competitor.
