Some of you buggers might know that i'm the Editor behind MAX-IT magazine, a local tech/hardware title. we're the same bunch of guys behind T3 magazine, PC Gamer and Digital Camera Magazine.

I am looking to start a regular section in the mag, focusing on reader's rigs, maybe with a rig of the month prize or something somewhere down the road, depending on what kind of prizes i can get the sponsors to stump up.

i welcome suggestions and participants from every modder here who wants their machines to be featured in a magazine read all across Malaysia.

if you have queries, feel free to PM me, or drop me a line at ed.maxit@velocity-media.net. I prefer HIGH RESOLUTION pics for submissions, as the pics will be going into print.

I'm a regular reader of T3, PC Gamer and Maximum PC, and the last magazine has a Rig Of The Month page in the back of its magazine.

Now I know many people here have done custom case mods like myself, but I don't know whether these works are up to the standards of those seen in other magazines or on international websites.

You might think about writing modding guides for beginners, because that would be helpful. In general it would be nice to see a platform for Malaysian modders to aspire to work to.

Malaysian Case Mod aims to emphasize that the case mod is from a Malaysian, not that the case is a Malaysian case sleep.gif

custom PCs ? laugh.gif
i'm sorry but i think the trend is not there for custom PC....as most people just like to purchase and assemble them, but not to build them from scratch ( i mean malaysians ).......

and by comparing those casings like the ones in bit.tech, we'll know that our standards still need a lot of improvement......

anyway, it's a good and healthy start to introduce this kind of idea.

The majority of Malaysian modders do not start a case from scratch, as apart from you and me, I can't remember any others (though in all honesty I don't look out for them anyway). But then again, some of the stuff by PCModding.com.my is pretty sweet, so case modification does not require a completely built-from-scratch mentality.

This kind of publicity, as well as possible prizes, certainly does make you feel like starting a new project! I can't be assed to find a suitable case even though I'm free for the next two months though :/

If you don't try, you can't win anyway.

If you try, you might not win but you still have a chance!

So go ahead, I'm sure Ebola would love as much variety as possible.

i mean, from TT/lian to something differ...
coz it call mod.. tongue.gif
mod, mean u turn something accordng to ur own rite... haha
just like car notworthy.gif wira >> skyline tongue.gif
hahhaa

but custom made case are damn cool.. and outta limit
like allngap..
still lack of pc mod shop...

as far as the aesthetics is concerned, it's okay with me.....as long as it's nice looking

but as the context of 'modded casing' is concerned, it must have something which is different, maybe difference in looks, or a special theme, or some mod which is outstanding or significant.

anyway, it will always boils down to the entries.....
and frankly, i think i still got a long way to go as compared to those bit.tech guys....
with their budget and skills (with metals, acrylics, sprays, electronics, wax shaping) doh.gif

But i would like to see those hardcore modded casings with special themes.....coz it's a great thing to be able to turn the idea into a real one. thumbup.gif

Who doesnt? But the big problem in Malaysia is that not many ppl are willing to put at least RM3k jz into modding a case compared to the US where case modding is like a cheap hobby. I see most of the modders are adults in US so they have a bbig budget too

thanks for the suggestion, ive already contracted someone to start off with some simple mod guides, hope to see his submissions in print soon.

if anyone is interested in submitting mod guides, i also dont mind taking them in, so long as the pics are nicely shot, and the description has sufficient detail. if ur english not so power also, dont worry, i can adjust grammar etc so long as i understand what it is you are doing in the mod.

Just for those of you to gauge how much materials cost, I made a custom case while in the UK that was made entirely of 5mm thick acrylic and there was lots of it, as well as around 5 metres of 1cm square aluminium rod, and the total cost of this was around 75 UK Pounds, which converted is around RM600. That's way below the RM3K estimate the poster before me mentioned, and even after you spend some money on tools you will still be under the RM 2000 line I believe. Yes, it is expensive if its going to be your one and only project, but if you're a DIY guy or gal, you might as well try and you may succeed in getting a tasty article in some Malaysian magazine.

well, im not asking everyone to create mods worthy of worldwide acclaim, just the mods that youve done to your machine.

we can start small, something like reader's rigs, or something. if this grows bigger, who knows, maybe i can pull some more sponsors in to make it even more attractive.

well I am doing case modding in Malaysia. Availability of tools and workshops has been the biggest issue here. u can check my case on bit tech or modders.Inc, under the name Sanvexor or Sandstorm II, i would like to set-up a group of ppl who are truly involved in modding and builds, NOT ASSEMBLING, this is a bigger lvl than assembling. Like a little circle of Malaysian Modders.

The second issue we face here are the available product, damn where are those cool WC products, really hard to find and pretty damn expensive. for my build it cost me over RM4000. it was a scratch build. so if i add up system parts as well it cost me around RM 8000++

SO in my point of view, modding is easy and cheap, but it all depends on what you are doing, your design and materials you use. it can be from few 100s to 10000 +
So talk with me if anything is up. Would love to see a case mod show coming up in malaysia
