QUOTE(Screen @ May 17 2014, 07:28 PM) I've heard somewhere saying there is a lot of faults after upgrading to 4.4.2 KitKat, is that true? it works better in kitkat...the phone was buggy in JB.. issues i could remember when i first had it was irresponsive knock on, screen still blackedout after a call (proximity sensor wasn't responding) and touch screen ghosted itself (lagged and wasn't responding to touches properly until you turn off and on the screen again)Planning to buy for my mom, but saw that problem this is my second G2 and i'm loving it every moment. |

btw, you might have heard it wrongly..the one with issues after the update is the xperia series..their phones are seriously crap after the KK update from JB.

QUOTE(Screen @ May 17 2014, 09:55 PM) Heard it from here actually I think i know why, verizon sets..haha so probably it has something to do with those which came with the telco as their firmware is slightly different from the international versions, plus when it was released vodafone had it first and it was full of the bloatware from the respective telcos...the units you would find here would definitely be either the korean versions or the international (d802) ones..http://www.alphawired.com/2014/05/lg-g2-an...date-backfires/ But since you all users have no prob with it, I shall go on with it Edit: Actually I'm still having a dilemma between G2 and Nexus 5, someone mind listing the edge of one phone to another? i don't have a nexus 5 but as far as i read their threads, i read the battery life was one of the major issues..as in if you are looking at a g2, ur looking at a note 3 kinda of battery life rather den a s4....i'm not bragging, its seriously that good.. for hardware wise, i think nexus 5 and lg g2 have very close interiors. you gain a 0.2 inch screen estate as well as a 13 mp vs 8 mp camera but both has OIS. Front camera is 2.1 for the G2 and 1.3 for the N5. Processor and ram is the same. The base G2 is 32gb internal by default vs 16gb units for N5 (yes there are 32gb's but not too sure if the price is way higher) and both do not have microsd slots as well. Last but not least, you have a mammoth battery and capacity size apart, i read somewhere G2 has the same kind of batteries used in tablets which is why it can last longer than average phones with 3000mah...(this is from my personal experience from the xperia z1) No doubt my most loved phones are the z1 and G2, i think the only thing G2 loses to it is the underwater capabilities and photography abilities. But at least the G2 doesn't overheat and prevent me from using the camera when the phone gets hot, something which i found the z1 doing very often during my 3 weeks of ownership. Hope this helps. QUOTE(Screen @ May 17 2014, 10:36 PM) N5 is around 1.5k for the 32gb one. Sounds like G2 is having an edge over N5 I have stopped changing phones. Rugi really teruk teruk. Coz there difference between the newer phones and current gen isn't that drastic anymore hence i don't really feel like changing phones so often unless its very substantial. I don't own all of the phones at one time actually, just swap when i have the budget and so on. Well at the very least i don't own the N5 Btw, just curious, how do you manage to own so many phones? I was quite happy with my G2 previously, but that time i wanted to get something with ori warranty, so i sold it and changed to a note 3 i think. somehow despite all the phones i have used, the ones i really liked always will have issues. The G2 was previously quite irritating with the JB firmware hence i didn't keep it for long. I did test it with the Vodafone firmware when KK was new and boy i was fond of it, but 4G was not available as the band is different for their country and ours and the firmware crippled it. But now it's the best phone I can ask for. Doesn't matter if it's an AP set, and the lesson learnt is, i will definitely stay away from HTC and Lenovo and Sony. Reason is after sales is horribly slow. Lenovo center's don't pick up their phones, Sony will take just as long as HTC should a warranty claim arise. If you want quick services, Samsung is the way to go. Fastest warranty claims i have seen. I have no idea about Asus though. LG, their service i remember years ago, it was pretty slow as well, as in always shortage of parts and etc. But now that we are all getting AP sets for the G2, i doubt it will make any difference, so what the heck. The Xperia Z1 was supposed to be my last phone, but trust me, you will wanna consider before buying a Sony again. Which was why i finally decided to stick back to the G2 even though its not popular. Besides, everyone has a Z1 or Note 3 or S5 wherever you go. Hardly you will see people using the G2. My colleagues dislike the buttons at the back, but it has been the best thing for me ever since they shifted it to the back. No more accidental presses to silent the phone and etc. This post has been edited by keagan: May 17 2014, 11:06 PM |

Actually there's another phone i would consider over the G2, it's the LG Isai, but its really hard to get it locally. That one you can play with it in the water. Specs are exactly like the G2 minus the battery capacity~

QUOTE(dotjolt @ May 18 2014, 04:48 AM) Looks like you've been jumping on and off the bandwagon within the Android brands. Why not give WP8 a try? Although their apps are still lackluster, you'll have a different perspective of phones when you've experienced the WP8 OS. i was thinking of it too bro, the last windows phone i touched was the HTC mozart..i think that was wayyyy back before windows phones were actually usable. The most enjoyable windows phone i had was the HTC HD2.. super duper big screen and you can flash whatever you want on to it. After that i dare not try adi coz HTC mozart was running on some really ancient windows platform. Only one thing hindering me from going on a windows phone is, its very difficult to sell off should i want to swap to other phones as i think the demand is still low compared to the android counterparts.I was a Lumia 920 user for a year before I switched to the G2. The G2 has an awesome battery life, and Android has Disco Zoo, which is probably the only reasons why I'll with the G2 for now (it's also the best android phone in the market imo). But once WP8.1 kicks in, and apps have an equivalent ecosystem as Androids, i'll strongly consider switching back. |

QUOTE(dotjolt @ May 18 2014, 02:57 PM) Well that's true. But I think resale value is something very subjective. Even our G2s have no more resale value after the numerous price drops. As bad as it is, I don't think anything will beat HTC one's resale. I lost practically rm 800 in just 3 weeks. Nobody wants that phone! |
