Hey fellow gamers,

I'm just wondering if anyone here has previously looked into changing their router Nat status to Open for online play. For example, on Call of Duty online it says my Nat status is Moderate but I would like to change it to Open. I've logged into my router setup page on TM Unifi, but I can't seem to find anything there to help change the setting.

Any help would be appreciated,
Many thanks.

Also, apologies if this has been covered before as I couldn't find the topic.

Not sure if this will help, but for my 360, i gave it a static local ip and did port forwarding on my router so that when my 360 connects, it forwards it to the opened ports.

I don't fully understand it myself either but it seems to work :-/

1) Find what ports you are suppose to open for Wii U.
2) Set a static local IP for your Wii U that won't be used by other devices
2) Enable port forwarding/triggering on your modem, if it ask for local IP of the device, input the static IP you set for the Wii U.

Good Luck

Hey m00ch, thankyou very much for the thoroughly detailed advice.

After some research and playing around alittle today with both the Wii U and router setup, I've found that creating a static local ip does do the trick. As I say, I don't fully understand it all but this does seem like a good way to go about it.

Thanks again for the response pal, much appreciated!

Also, just for reference incase anyone else is looking into creating an Open Nat Status. A Wii LAN adapter can also help by using a stronger wired connection to WiFi. This was an idea I was heading towards before finding a solution with the static local ip.
