Hi Guys! I need your help(s). I've been using pcs' all along and I'm just getting so sick of MS windows. I'm an engineering student , and I want to do a full migration to mac.
Now, my needs are to run : (1) Enginnering software like matlab, pspice, multisim, mathcad . I need windows for them. I'm aware that mac can run windows on it at the same time using bootcamp. (2) Programming software like MS Visual C++ , Java2 and etc. (3) I would like to have a 20" LCD monitor to view all my simulations. (4) I play moderate games like ragnarok, A3-MMORPG. (5) I use Office suites to edit and types my reports. (6) Surf the net and chatting (7) Watch movies and listening to music. Is it okay to get a mac mini+20" LCD monitor or will it be better to get an imac or do you have any other better suggestions? Thanks a lot. |

Well , MathLab for OSX...There is MathLab for OSX mac mini would do fine. Just make sure you pump the RAM to 1GB or better yet 2GB and it would fly... |

bootcamp is free and bootcamp itself provide the driver for winxp, you only need a blank cd-r and burn the driver image

its F.O.C and then you need to create your own CD. Just insert your windows CD [ahem ahem also works..but use it at your own risk] , and then it will create a new windows cd with the drivers loaded....thats the beauty of it
2. Yes , OSX can read/write office files with Office:2004 and OpenOffice |

Boot camp only allowing you to select which OS to boot. If you want to switch from WinXP to OSX (or vice versa), you need to reboot.
Another alternative is to use Xen, which allowing you to run multiple OS at the same time(be it WinXP, OSX or Linux). Very suitable to impress your friend http://macs.hackaday.com/entry/1234000700073836/ |
