That is more applicable for older generations of VTEC e.g. B series engine Honda.

FD generation Civic uses i-VTEC. It employs intelligent continuous variable valve timing and it is working the minute you start the car and it is always working, adjusting valve timing to make the engine more fuel efficient depending on your driving habit.

Compared to previous B series engine, you don't get that kick when VTEC sets in with i-VTEC engines.

Normally VTEC kick in when either of the following condition is met

1) Tered open about a certain organization trying to ban some general phrases that the world is using and limit it to usage by a certain race only

2) Tered open about some people complaining about a certain building from blasting the loudspeaker loudly few times a day

3) Tered open about some vague definition of why a certain animal is not permitted to go near, touch or eat and the counter argument about it

4) Tered open about law enforcement officer’s alleged malpractice against a certain races

and many more....

This goes to show the flexibility of VTEC, which is why it is considered more superior than other....

You have to tekan button one for VTEC to work. Its like turbo OK must switch it on, default is off so you can safe fuel.
