QUOTE(irenic @ Jul 31 2006, 11:04 PM)
yups u can lower it down.. but then whats the different from getting e6400? owh the 4mb cache? well it's up to u if u think rm400 is worth the extra 2mb cache biggrin.gif
*
E6400 is same as E6300 with 2mb cache. Only E6600/E6700/X6800 have 4mb cache. smile.gif

If 3.5ghz with looser timing, still faster than 3ghz with better timing in PI calculation.

Yea, still yet to see anyone can reach 3.5ghz on air yet. jarofclay should have the nearest answer to it as he owns a E6600, which can easily reach 3.6ghz with 400mhz.

But does E6600 clocks well compared to E6300 right now?

blink.gif  blink.gif Walao, this processor is so amazing,I think Intel is very kind, give so many room for overclock,1.86Ghz to 3.1Ghz and above....But one thing I feel strange...Why you all processor stepping is 6,so high,it is very helpful in overclocking, because usually first or second batch shouldn't so high one, very amazing,I think I will change to it soon...

There will be no regret using Intel platform right now. biggrin.gif

It's better you get a 975X based motherboard like Asus P5WDH Deluxe rather than 965 for X6800.
