for this c2d, dual super pi 32m, loops of 3dmarks, occt also cant prove stability..

i passed all of them with flying colors but then i failed sp2004 after 5hrs!

450x7
ram 900 4-5-4-13
vcore 1.375 in bios (1.34 cpuz)
vdimm +0.2
vmch +0.2 - +0.3 all failed
vfsb +0.1
vpcie +0.1

pci e clock 101

EIST disabled

dunno what to do to make it stable prime at least 7 hrs. it's rare to have fail after 5hrs sad.gif

as i said earlier, whatever i do, i cant get pass 450fsb. when i set in bios, it will reset the oc and boot at 266x7.. if i set using easytuner, it will hang straight away..

but after change my sata hdd from gigabyte sata to intel sata, i manage to hit 452 =D ahaks eventhough it's only 2fsb, but it still proves to me that sthing can be done to make it go higher biggrin.gif

here is the screenshot, dont bother bout the super PI result since i ran many application before i ran super PI.

451x7 set in bios. then increase 1 mhz more using software.

i believe the problem with DS4 is the bios.. in XS, people are saying DS3 is better than Dq6 in OC. bcoz many DQ6 users can reach high fsb like DS3 user..
and since DS4 can use DQ6 bios (both board is almost same), then i guess DS4 is worse overclocker than DS3.. hopefully ram timing, and few things will be improved in next bios..

rite now i ran my pc for 2-3 days @ 450x7, ram 900, vcore 1.375, vdimm +0.2, vmch +0.2, vfsb +0.1. no problem even when i played oblivion for 2hrs. but when i ran sp2004, it will hang. stimes after 5hrs, stimes after 5mins.. i also dunno why... doh.gif

do u mean auto? for voltage?

well when i read other forum, i can say 450x7 is quite great.. a lot of people with retail c2d max at 3xx fsb.. and many of ds3 user hit the wall at 480fsb.

[quote=jarofclay,Aug 9 2006, 05:48 PM]Sometimes, I just begin to wonder about this obsession of priming for hours on end. I've had my X2 failing prime at 2.6ghz but never encountered a single hang with FEAR, Q4, Most Wanted, HL2, Oblivion and any other games I thrown at it. To me, as long as it can pass the benchmark; even if it fails prime for 5 or 6 hours, I consider that a successful benching speed.

Just my thought... unless you're planning to use your rig to build rockets that must have absolute precision. biggrin.gif

well we have different kind of thinking. it's not an obsession, but i want to have a processor that is stable for 24/7 .. if u look at my oc, why did i spent lots of hours running prime at below 3.15ghz? eventhough i managed to do many things at 3.15ghz. it's bcoz i wanna find stable setting for daily use, not just for bench..

and i wonder why people so obsess about bench result? super PI? and all those synthetic 3dmarks?

i dont need to built rocket, if u r in animation rendering, where u r rendering 3dclips for the whole week without stop, u know what it means to have 10hrs of stability in prime..

source fr OP lyp

me usually don't prime only run superPI 32M,3D benching & games

well i understand, u r finding highest benchable clockspeed, but i am looking for highest stable 24/7 clockspeed.

i bet for those who believes 4hrs of 3dmark or stressful gaming + super PI is enuff, he wont manage to render 3d animation for the whole 1 day.

I used computer for both hobby and working, not just for benchies like u rich guys doh.gif and that is why i'm asking about prime stable or not. if yes, i might be getting one also.

which wan is faster the 1:1 or running on divider??
kinda newbie in intel OC'ing  sweat.gif  sweat.gif

based on my exp.

4:5

cpu 2996, ram 1070 5-6-5-15 super PI 1m 19.344secs

1:1

cpu 3009 (0.43% faster), ram 860 (24.42% slower) 4-5-4-13 super PI 1m 19.609secs (0.265secs slower)

IMO, on intel platform 1:1 is still faster than using divider.

dont try f4e.. some killed their bios when flashing their board.

i suggest u to try using other vga card, even pci display card.. and see whether the problem is solve or not..

btw here is my 1st oc with my conroe e6600..

proc at 350x9 @ 3.15ghz

ram at auto (downclock @ ddr700), timing 4-5-4-15 (loose a bit bcoz dont want the ram to hold my cpu oc)

vdimm auto
vmch +0.2
vfsb auto
vpcie auto
vcore 1.375
