BINTULU: The expansion of Columbia Asia Hospital here is timely as Bintulu has grown from a village of barely 5,000 people to an industrial town with over a quarter million people.
Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem said the Bintulu of today thus required modern medical facilities and healthcare services.
“With modern facilities, various diseases that cannot be detected in the past with just traditional treatment can now be cured,” he said at the ground-breaking ceremony of Columbia Asia Hospital Bintulu expansion project and the development of Columbia Commercial Centre at Jalan Tan Sri Ikhwan in Tanjung Kidurong yesterday.
Adenan said mainly because of the oil and gas industry, Bintulu had developed to what it is today, and would continue to grow and prosper.
“The development of Samalaju will boost Bintulu as an industrialised city. A private hospital is required. It is a must-have criterion for a developing town like Bintulu.
