Please to be noted, Netflix will start the movies with SD at the beginning and slowly increase the resolution to HD, it is handle automatically by Netflix.

only thing is unless the device is certified by netflix, the video is only 480p, upgraded a bit by yr tv.

certified smart 4k tv's with netfilx direct can get hd+uhd 4k videos.
i have played with netflix uhd package on 4k tv direct, q16, q5ii, ipad, pc - they all work, only a matter of what video quality the device can get.
