pass thru = let avr do the job.

cannot pass thru = downgrade to core dts/dd for avr.

If you have AVR, Q16 will auto passthru and let AVR manage the speakers to perform the sound effect.

If you do not have AVR then Q16 will modulate the audio to your stereo TV such that you still could hear the audio.

If the AVR cannot decode Dolby TrueHD but only DD5.1, how would be the sound output?

The outcome is depend on your AVR. My Yamaha 5.1 AVR does not support TrueHD 7.1 Atmos but it auto play as TtueHD 5.1.

that means the avr is an old one or it's a htib or home theater in a box which do not have hdmi input.
with such an avr, the avr will only deliver what it can, i.e. dts or dd.
a 40gb dtshdma or ddtruehd file will just comes out same as a 10gb dts or dd file.
the connection will be q16 toslink or coaxial audio output to avr.
Q16 HD audio via hdmi feature is not used in this case.

dd atmos is quite new, think only avr <2 yrs old will have it.

dtshdma, ddtreuhd, <8 yrs, should hv it.

Personally, I recommend SeasonIPTV or CloudTV, but SeasonIPTV is not easy to find in Malaysia. CloudTV has monthly subscription where I could terminate the subscription any time. HDTV not good as it crash randomly in Q16. Please ask for one day trial from the seller before you subscribe.

Bro, your Q16 already preinstalled with 6 months free trial China VPN. As explained in the getting started guide, VPN is used for bypass blocking and throttling.
