Appreciate if members can recommend me a good and reasonable eye specialist for solving my wife's cataract.i was quoted by a Dr for my wife cataract surgery for both eyes at 7000 per eye.it will cost 10000 per eye for multifocal lens.i did check Tun Hussein onn but the review was not good especially relating to the long long queue.please advise me

where is your location? 7k per eye is very expensive. you can get a multifocal IOL lens with that amount even in SJMC or sunway medical center. 4k+ you can get a good lens done by a good corneal specialist.

Gleneagles,anyway friend recommended me to dunstant eye specialist which he had a very good glaucoma surgery a a couple of years back.couldn't find this clinic on website,anyone knows this clinic?

never heard of this clinic. glaucoma is related to retina, while cataract is more on lens and cornea. they are different specialties, you should see a corneal specialist instead.

I remember my late mum saw him once in the 80s.


My elder brother had both cataracts removed and replaced with lens implants
in Pantai Cheras for some $ 7,000 a few years ago, which I thought was
rather high at that time.

I think they were not multifocal lenses.


Cataract removal is a common outpatient procedure done with the laser these days
and any opthalmologist should be able to handle it easily without problems.

My brother stayed overnight in the ward mainly for insurance claims.

My father go through the cataracts operation in Maiwp's Cataract Surgery Centre. Only cost him 600/eye. Operation using laser, very fast and safe. Can go home right after the operation of 1hr+.
It is located at Jalan Gombak, nearby the Tesco Plus.
