is the lightning build still a good build for a monk?
if not, what is a better build?

i'll stick with my won kim lau and thunderfury...or shard of hate...
which do you guys think is the best combination out of the three weapons?

IMO, a +16% lightning damage in your WKL is pretty weak and not good enough for the proc in Shard of Hate. So, in this case, I would recommend Thunderfury + SoH. But if you can find Odyn Son (quite common), I think it's even better than SoH.
*
so i should re-roll my WKL to 20% lightning then biggrin.gif

oh, what attribute does an odyn son has? i think i got one back then but salvaged it doh.gif

WKL additional lightning damage can roll to 25%.

Odyn Son proc send a chain lightning that scale with your lightning damage, IAS, CDMG and CC. So, it's pretty strong, especially if you have high DPS.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/odyn-son

Another thing that make it better than SOH is that if there is only 1 target, all 3 hits from chain lightning goes to that guy.
*
oooh up to 25%..didn't know that
thank you very much for the info dude!!!
you're such a great help!

aggggh...still a long way to go to 5pm, i wanna play now! lol

Best build atm is still genwuko (sunwuko + generator). This required The Flying Dragon.

You can build a DW Sunwuko setup too. It's not as good as using Daibo since you cannot benefit from the 20% damage in 2p Sunwuko, but the 3500% is still the best damage we have. Especially after the recent 2H patch, it is definitely better than DW. Slow attack speed is not really my thing too. With the proper skill (Siege the Initiative - 30%, Alacrity - 15%, Dashing Strike - Radiance 15%) you wont feel that slow. Things become very fun when FD proc as well.

If you still wanna go DW, you still can with Sunwuko, but limited to Holy element to further increase the damage of the proc.

If you must go with lightning build, you should go for Odyn Son + Thunderfury / WKL / SoH. Both weapon benefit from additional lightning damage. You should use Lightning rune Bell. It offers solid damage. Raiment of Thousand Storm should be the set you should aim for. It offers additional lightning damage and solid DS 3000% as lightning.
*
oh...i should try this. i'm using LTK with the rune that stuns as my main spender
i've never used bells before. or do you think i should stick with the LTK?

i just completed the Raiment of Thousand Storm set and 145% additional lightning damage
i'm using Odyn son and WKL (i also have TF and SoH but not really sure what to use, can anyone advise)...what skill set would be best for me?
my current skill set: WotHF, DS, LTK, SW, epiphany, mantra of healing

monk sifus, pls help me maximize my monk. thanks in advance!

i was using LTK all the while, however if you look at raw dmg, http://us.battle.net/d3/en/class/monk/active/wave-of-light wave of light - pillar of the ancient lightning rune will be better
LTK is 15%/spirit while lightning pillar is 18%/spirit ASSUMING your target takes the full 3 second area of effect damage over time (AOE DOT)

in high grift, chances are you'll be running/kiting a bit cuz monks are made from toufu.
pillar helps a ton on that even without the stun.
IINM the proc coeff on the AOE DOT is pretty nice also, meaning it'll help proc some of your effects, like my gogok legendary gem or wreath of lightning

That, and pillar aoe is quite huge.
LTK aoe/arc is just pathetic :/

here however shows LTK still being more preferable:

hey, pretty good gears you have! i don't think you have any survivability problem in T6. Grift 35 and above is different story.

you really should not pair Inna set with Sunwuko. for Sunwuko build (particularly on Genwuko), you need to spam both Sweeping Wind and Mantra to spawn the clone which deal tremendous damage. The Inna set will make Sweeping Wind cost so low that this no longer possible.

consider Aughild's set for bracer and chest. for pant, can use Depth Digger.

Take out Wave of Light (bell) from your skill. To cast bell, your toon has animation which will stop you from generating spirit. Bell will be useful in 2.1.2, but not at the moment.

Replace it with Epiphany - Desert Shround, that will give you 50% damage reduction, making you almost invincible in T6.

Re-roll your shoulder to 8% cool down reduction. Use diamond in helm. Re-roll the IAS in your gloves to 8% CDR as well. use Paragon point for CDR too. you want to be able to spam Epiphany as soon as possible.

Try Mirinae legendary gem instead of Pain Enhancer. Also, important to bring those gem to at least level 25. smile.gif

If you have SOJ, replace that Skull Grasp.

The game play is keep punching all mobs, activate Epiphany when dealing with Elite, spam both Sweeping Wind and Mantra to spawn clone and kill everything in explosion. Refreshing Mantra of Healing create protection bubble that hugely increase your defence as well.

i have no words...completely speechless
if i have to pay you my friend for this i will definitely be poor

hi guys
thinking of building a lightning or cold build with sunwuko
so what gear should i be looking for
got frostburn and rimeheart w/c is for cold
and thunderfury, odyn son, shard of hate, thundergod's vigor for lightning. also got the helm with +26% lightning damage.

currently running a firebuild with incense torch and tzo krin. maybe just got tired of just using bells so i want to try something new but don't know where to start

thanks in advance

if u got tired of bell, there are 2 other competitive builds you can try:

1. Cold TR build. TR TR TR, see Elite, stop, kaboom! 1 hit kill. You only need hexing pant.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/15700615156

2. Lightning palm build. This is a party build. You use Cyclone Strike, pull all mobs to you and trigger 500% more damage. Use Exploding Palm - Shocking Grasp to quickly apply palm to many mobs. Team mate kaboom 1 mob, chain reaction! Everything die! People loves shooting at mobs with Palm, they die in fantastic explosion!

http://www.diablofans.com/builds/25388-2-1...super-fast-rift

To do this in solo, you need to change CS to Lighning Bell.

http://www.diablofans.com/builds/26327-2-1...ning-speed-palm

Have fun!
*
oooh nice...both builds look interesting
hexing pants haven't got one yet
gungdo gear also no drops yet

thanks bro! so you're still running firebuild?
