The action / CGI for TF4:AOE was top notched. Michael Bay may be doing a good job at redesigning the character and their origins, but the main complaint are the plot hole(s) -- alot of them. I can give a few examples (Beware of Spoiler for those who haven't seen it)
Plot Hole 1 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Plot Hole 2 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Plot Hole 3 » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I'm sure other members can find other plot holes as well. QUOTE(kaizer3000 @ Jun 30 2014, 11:03 AM) just saw the utube video on wads new in usa toys r us.... masterpiece grimlock is bek!! (the box looks KO-ish...with chinese letters on it...but i dun care!! its the grimlock that matters!!) It's already in TRU Malaysia, I think a few days after the official launch of the AOE ToyLine. It's more expensive than the US TRU version tho, as US TRU sells it for USD60, while TRU Malaysia is selling at an increased price of RM499.90.i missed the exclusive tru grimlock last time...now everyone wants to scalp the figure like hell...up till rm1k!! hope it gets to malaysia soon...then i can "naaahhh" to those scalpers...hahaha.. |

QUOTE(advocado @ Jun 30 2014, 02:26 PM) Hmmm. The TakaraTomy version (with collectors coin and exclusive shoulder cannon) currently retails for RM200.And I thought TRU Malaysia retailed the MP Prowl for RM399.95? I think the TRU you went to mislabelled the price, as I heard there was a TRU in Penang that immediately fixed the price once another collector informed them of this. But if you're happy with the figure, who am I to stand in the way of your happiness This post has been edited by VDread: Jun 30 2014, 02:33 PM |

QUOTE(limfreelance @ Jun 30 2014, 02:27 PM) RM180 for the PO MP Prowl, TakaraTomy version -- which can be found for RM200 nowadays. The Hasbro MP Prowl when released was RM399.95, but some TRU stick RM429.95 (weird?). Both the TakTom and Hasbro versions are the same, only packaged differently. TakTom was packaged in alt mode, with some buyers getting the exclusive shoulder cannon and collector coin. Hasbro packaged it robot mode, with only a gun. No coin, no shoulder cannon. |

QUOTE(ckchan @ Jul 1 2014, 09:52 AM) ... if i recall, the dinobots in the g1 series also serve no purpose other than reinforce the autobots when needed and hit and smash the cons. and bot mode... all these while also no use de la... most of the time they are in dino mode. their dino mode is stronger than their bot mode. 1. Grimlock created the Technobots, which in combined form is Computron.if i remember correctly, in one G1 episode, meg blow up something, cause a great explosion and all the dinobots were blown to pieces. that time the dinobots are in their bot mode right? their bot mode is their weaknesses 2. Grimlock stopped the Primacron creation, Tornedron. 3. The Dinobots were the Autobots heavy hitters in the early seasons of the G1 cartoon, and can hold their own against Devastator (the 1st G1 combiner). 4. All the Dinobots can speak, and have frequent banter with each other. 5. Grimlock has the signature "Me, Grimlock..." dialogue. He was not a Dinobot with its vocabulary limited to only grunting and puffing. 6. The Dinobots were given significant origin backstory, not captives in a ship then suddenly let loose. 7. In Bot mode, all the Dinobots towered over Optimus Prime, and were each stronger than Prime. |

QUOTE(ckchan @ Jul 1 2014, 01:03 PM) 1. it's a one off thing... come on... grimlock's new brain???? My point is : Dinobots in the G1 series is not as insignificant as you say they are in the G1 series.2. can't recall which episode is this 3. yup. heavy hitters. agreed just as i said 4. they can speak simple language... so? 5. again so? what's your point? 6. what backstory? they were created by wheeljack, ratchet... 7. yup. definitely bigger than prime. as i said, they are the hit and smash of the autobot team again... what u guys expect from a bay movie? haven't u guys watch the previous trilogy? maybe some of u are expecting romeo and juliet kind of story ke? come on la... it's a bayformers i also grew up watching the g1 series. but having watched the previous trilogy should already set what to expect from bayformers dy la... it's just a fun movie to watch when u don't relate it much back to its ori series. just sit back and enjoy the show la. Separately, Bay's reimagination of the Dinobots is fine (design, transformation is CGI perfection) -- it's the plot holes that leaves much to be desired. Could've given an explanation on who were the 'Ancient Knights' and how are they similar to the current Transformers (transformable, captured by Lockdown etc). Bay gave such an explanation on how the Sun Eater Machine was built on Earth by The Fallen in ROTF, why wasn't this done to at least plug the holes in AOE? QUOTE(ckchan @ Jul 1 2014, 01:17 PM) haha... maybe in tf5??? can't really expect much from a 2.5 hour movie right? and can't really expect much more from a bay movie right? With OP granting the Ancient Knights 'freedom' at the end, I'm not so sure if they'll make a come back. I hope they will. But I could be wrong. |

QUOTE(kiien_kyan @ Jul 1 2014, 02:31 PM) AGREE 1000 + Still doesnt excuse the huge plot holes in the movie. TF1, ROTF and DOTM had plot holes, but not as big as the ones in AOE.people thought Bay can make the few seasons of G1 story into 2.5 hours movie? some more in the new era, some logic or not logic need to considered too. and TF movie from Bay is not only targeted to TF fans, most of them duno anything about TF old cartoon. U cant expect those never watch G1 saw this nowadays cool looking dinasour say "Me Grimlock smash all enemies.." or something? they will just feel "what a joke?" "looks so stupid" these kinda feedbacks.. every series has their own stoylines too, Bay has his own. he cant follow exactly G1 la.. anyone blame TF Prime storyline, "why the hack Unicron is the Earth itself? anyone? I understand Bay is basically 'rebooting' the whole TF franchise. But a movie with plot holes just -- spoils it I guess. Things happening unexplained, things happening for no reason. That's my pet peeve about TF:AOE. It's like when I was watching XMen : Days of Future Past and realised : "Hey, with this interference in time, all the other movies save for First Class is non-existent / non-concern" This post has been edited by VDread: Jul 1 2014, 03:36 PM |

For those collecting MP figures from TakTom, just need your confirmation on the collector's coin.
I think all of my MP coins is stamped 'Hasbro' instead of 'TakaraTomy' on the coin card. Is this the same case for you guys as well? Next question is : if Hasbro is the party manufacturing / distributing the coins, is there any reason why Hasbro doesnt include it in their MP releases? Thanks in advance for any reply |

QUOTE(Lurker @ Jul 5 2014, 03:40 PM) coming in late on the masterpiece line Not sure if you can still find him, but my personal opinion is TakTom's MP Prowl is the best looking of the Datsun bunch, simply because he is a police car I am thinking to get 1 model for the nissan mold and 1 more of the Lamborghini mold, which one to get? Also is there a 'definitive' guide to identifying KO units? i hv come across several stores having stocks with pricetags ranging from 200-250 http://tfwiki.net/wiki/The_Transformers:_Masterpiece For the Lambo mould, the difference on the packaging for KO is subtle, as the packaged box was 'changed' to look authentic when people realised how to differentiate. Early KO version had Japanese picture description missing, but newer batch had rectified this. If KO is a big concern, you can source the original MP12G (Black Lambo, G2 Sideswipe) at reputable shops for around RM200-240. The red MP12 Sideswipe however is scalped at very high price, that you might as well wait for the rumoured reissue coming next year (or is it end of this year). QUOTE(Lurker @ Jul 6 2014, 08:45 PM) Haha. Yes, the box is Nissan. Sorry for the confusion caused, as I call them the 'Datsun Bros'. Silverstreak for RM200 + collector's coin is OK. I may skip Silverstreak as I already have Bluestreak. |

QUOTE(BoonieTan @ Jul 7 2014, 12:11 AM) I own one (TakTom version). In all honesty, the quality is much better than the Lamborghini moulds (better alt mode door fitment). Transformation is a bit tricky when it comes to the legs. My minor complaint is on the tab / peg where the robot head rests. Its a tiny piece of plastic that I fear if transformed a lot might break. Paint wise, it is a better than MP12 Sideswipe (at least on the one I own). |

As for my MP-11 Coronation, my biggest gripe is the 'tail wings', always seem to pop of from its hinges at the slightest pressure applied. During transformation, I just pop both of so I dont damage them.
In bot mode, there is a bit of difficulty to make mine stand, as the 'sliding body' transformation where the cockpit folds in tends to get unhinged easily (those who have should understand) and freely move up/down. Either that or I transformed it wrong. Haha As for stand, I bought the KO MP-3 stand and it fits well with MP-11 for both Bot and Alt mode. Jet mode wise, MP-11 from the top looks solid, with a few neat gimmick (the wind deflectors, the landing gear etc). But from the bottom, the Bot mode is quite apparent to those who thoroughly examine it. I pose my MP-11 together with HFTD Leader Class Starscream at times. Nice perspective of classic and modern This post has been edited by VDread: Jul 8 2014, 11:18 AM |

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Jul 8 2014, 11:14 AM) I am intending to leave it in the jet mode. Can be used as a jet model with Starscream livery too. I like the inked panels as the jet mode feels a lot more realistic and polished. Thats why now I am considering to get it from ebay since the price isnt too bad. MP-11 has no stand, and no missiles.I heard the MP11 does not have the stand. |

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Jul 8 2014, 11:32 AM) True, it is not easy to find a decent quality jet to pose. Not to mention in Starscream colours. If my memory serves me right:-So, for RM450, is it worth getting MP-3 for that price? EDIT: Just wondering, is true that only Skywarp only featured in Masterpiece in the MP-3 mold but not the newer MP-11? MP-3 mould is used for Starscream (MP-3, released by both TakTom and Hasbro), Skywarp (MP-6, released by both TakTom and Hasbro) and Thundercracker (MP-7). For MP-11, the mould was used for Starscream (MP-11), Sunstorm (MP-11S), Thundercracker (Hasbro release) and Acid Storm (Hasbro release). |
