Wow bro, the Takara one is out already??

Saw those new AOE toys in Toy R Us...my god, they look cheap, but the price is really ridiculous. Up price once more

takara wins just due to that shoulder armor painted.. hasbro's didn't stand out enough

not just the shoulder armor bro, there are a few other places where the paint is much more accurate.

compare the hasbro version here:


with the takara version below:

fire deco on pauldron


separation of color on the upper arm piece


additional blue color on upper abdominal area and upper thighs


more accurate grey feet and fists


smokestacks and upper shoulder piece painted metallic grey


also i just realised the hasbro version has clear plastic eyes for light piping purpose while the takara version has the eyes painted light blue to be more movie accurate (can be seen in my second comparison pic)

yup, among other things.. but the shoulder armor is the most eye catching one, even on hasbro, due to the grey shoulder and upper arms
now i have to hunt down the takara version

In all honesty, is Leader Class Grimlock a good buy?

Personally, I think Voyager is good enough, no need to fork out rm100 more for bigger size robot mode, but uglier t-rex mode. Voyager size might be small, but that depends how it scales with scorn and slug in the movie later, we shall see it soon. Afterall, the leader class is much smaller than ROTF/DOTM OP, it doesn't look right when standing together with all the Leaders in previous movies.

Really love this mold and the design of EVasion prime. If only they would make a leader class of this. This is the 1st mold that make me buy both Hasbro and Takara haha.. Strange enough, I don't like the Platinum one. Find the chrome to be tacky.
