APRIL 20, 2014
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim (pic) has proposed to create three deputy director-general posts in the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) to enable it to function more effectively.
Shahidan said the posts could be created representing the three leading enforcement agencies, Malaysian Armed Forces, police and Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
"For me, the best part is through coordination. But, we need to promote the grade of police, military and MMEA through grade progression to serve in Esscom for the post of deputy director-general due to their related roles," he told reporters at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport after the presentation of flood relief in Beaufort today.
He said the current grade of Esscom director-general of Jusa B was also being looked into and the matter to be discussed with the National Security Council.
Shahidan also said efforts were ongoing to streamline surveillance and patrol operations to be more effective through additional assets.
On Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid's statement on rotation of the commandant's power among the police and the armed forces, he said the matter was for the National Security Council to decide. – Bernama, April 20, 2014.
