Well, the subforums can have fan club threads for Filco, Ducky, Voxter, mainstream brands like Corsair and CM. Then mod threads for people who mod. One for Topre. Hao only thread for KMAC/LZ/Orion/Ergodox. And of course a MKB recommendation thread.
*
That's what I hate.
Who cares about fan club threads. It's really useless.

If you want to talk about switches, then that's something.

In all seriousness though, specific threads about switches and brands should be avoided.
There should be threads about:
How to mod keyboards
How to get stuff from Taobao
Recommendation of keyboards RM0-100
Recommendation of keyboards RM100-200
so on and so forth.

Brands should be avoided entirely.

The only reason for brands to have places where people using the same MKB can discuss and trade ideas. It's not about ooh, I have a Vortex, I'll now join this thread for fun. That will probably occur but it allows a place where people with similar MKBs can trade ideas.

Well, thats why I said have mod threads. How to deal with PCBs, switches and the like. More for poeple who buy individual parts and build it themselves.

Recommendation threads are a given. Good place to get people started with MKBs.
*
You can refer to existing brand threads.
Useless.

They talk about how long their stuff take to ship, then complain when it does not arrive.
Sometimes it's nice to share the prices, but put that in some Great finds thread, or for that matter, just create one if you see a great deal.

What ideas do you want to share?

Ohh i bought a bling bling logitech Mechanical keyboad. Most expensive evar. Please add me to the namelist

Can i put unicorn vomit LED on my ducky Model 123?
Why not create a thread on LED modding. if someone wants to make a guide for specific keyboards, then do it.

Does red on orange keycaps looks good on my White CM Bling bling keyboard?
The same applies for Bling Bling corsair, and bling bling ducky.
why not just create a thread on "keycaps ideas"

The "A" key on my Ducky don't work, how to fix.
This is the same that would apply for other brands of keyboards

My FILCO koyak already how to RMA, my seller sudah gulung tikar.
This does not happen all the time, and just get the person to start a new thread on this

Not trying to over categorize things, but just wanting to put forth my point that Brand threads are pointless.
Please tell me in what situations where a brand thread is absolutely needed.

Brand threads create unnecessary streaming and posts that are mostly unhelpful.

firstly, don't post your phone number on the internet.
Secondly, they ship to NA and EU only, for that item.

Finally got my RF 55g.
Wonderful key feel. 50g on the HHKB is till good for what its worth.
FC660C is still worth it for the key layout that makes a lot of sense.

But 87U 45g feels meh now, just keeping it because of the silent properties.

Never has there been any tax for keycaps.
Cyclone imported a huge set, got held at kastam. Went to open box to show ketam and paid RM0 for tax.

I stand corrected.
Did you bring your keyboard and show them that the keycaps can mount on the keyboard?

HEHEHEHE. My first picture(s) of the day feat. DSA Dolch.

As expected, like some forum members here I had issues with the spacebar, return, shift and backspace keys (keys with extra 2 white plastic sockets) being too loose to fit properly into the DSA Dolch keycaps.
This resulted in the keys being very unresponsive and it only clicks when you press it directly in the middle where the cherry mx stems are. It didn't bounce back as well at times.

But all is solved when I inserted some PTFE tape into the sockets. The keys feel super awesome now. rclxm9.gif

This is the layout Im doing, 65% I think?
For plate with swappable switch cover, the design is quite complicated. Found phantom plate CAD design, but too complicated for CAD noobs like me.
I'm making a CAD design starter kit (or whatever it is called) with video guide, just have to copy paste drag drop to create any keyboard design. Its done, but I'll upload the file once my case is done, just incase there's any mistake I need to fix.

Edit: I change my mind  laugh.gif  here is the link of video and design kit. Take a look and try, I will try to write a guide later on. I've include my design and poker 2 design in the kit as reference. I just learn CAD in 2 days, so anyone familiar with CAD, feel free to make any changes or point for any mistake.

P/s: need to install draftsight free edition to open the starter-kit.dwg file.

Skip the phantom plate. I find them useless.
The idea is good, but when you put it to use, you are going to scream.

Whenever I pull a keycap out, the switch top goes with it. Very Very annoying.

I mean, if you are going the route to build your own keyboard, you probably have the urge to try them all at once, or own all of them. Why have the hassle of changing springs every now and then.
