Yoyo guys. Been awhile since I've dropped by here. I've talked to lotus for sometime though, haha. I'm gonna start to assemble my faceW from sprit in awhile. Just wondering should I lube my switches before hand ? I'm going for clears with 62g. People over @ GH said that I should use it without lube first for a few months. I think the plate allows switch swap so I don't think that's gonna be a problem.
Thanks |

QUOTE(yuktsi14 @ May 15 2014, 08:22 AM) lube makes a lot of difference. my first 62g clear board was not lubed. I didn't like it at all. iinm 0168257061 uses blacks with 55g. I think those lubed are really nice for typing.but now, I prefer lubed 62g clear over vintage black. No offense 0168257061 Any idea where I can get lube in Msia ? Or I should just order them over at techkeys. I heard lubing the sliders on the switch and the stem is sufficient which means I don't have to lube the springs. |

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ May 15 2014, 09:08 AM) Yeah, lube the stems on the sliders, and the part where the sliders make contact on the switch housing. Geekhack and reddit has great guides for this. Don't lube anything metal as they are not going to affect the switch feel. Alright thanks. Can I use any other lube other than krytox ? I'm not too keen on spending much on lube. |

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ May 15 2014, 09:12 AM) You spend a thousand bucks on a new keyboard. Custom made and all. Top of the line switches, board and keycaps. Suddenly you balk at buying good lube. Go use KY jelly instead then. anyhow I'll ask around, thanks anyways This post has been edited by joonwei23: May 15 2014, 09:29 AM |

QUOTE(dadudeneverabides @ May 15 2014, 09:40 AM) Sry bro, not enough sleep, so no patience today. Nah its not that, I understand no worries. But the point stands... it's like people buy nice phone but cheapo pasar malam cover that doesn't fit properly. It just sucks and smell of cheapness. It's just I'm not sure if I have any use for the remaining lube if i were to purchase it from techkeys but thanks |

QUOTE(shutterspeed @ May 19 2014, 07:46 AM) Hi mechanical keyboard enthusiasts. Yeah, get it sorted while your warranty is still available. I just entered mechanical keyboard world. Bought my first new mechanical keyboard a few days ago. It's with blue switches. It was a fun typing experience until I typed on some keys that did not produce the same sound and did not felt like others. There seems to be a problem (under my understanding) with some of the switches/keys. From what I know, generally, blue switches should produce that click sound. But some keys on my keyboard have mushy sound, almost like no click at all. I have a video of the situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjSJj1un7bc In this video, I recorded the F3 key sound, which did not click like F2 and F4. This is my first mechanical keyboard so I have no practical experience dealing with this. I'm hoping long time users of mechanical keyboard can shed some light on this. Do you think it's a defective switch? Should I send for a replacement? some blue switches tend not to click for some reason. probably a bad batch. however there are cases where the switch would click after some time after prolong usage. For additional reading, similar case to yours. - http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=58290.0 This post has been edited by joonwei23: May 19 2014, 08:39 AM |

QUOTE(shutterspeed @ May 19 2014, 08:03 PM) Thanks joonwei23. In that case, I decided to just go straight for a replacement since it's still a few days since unbox. It's very unfortunate to experience my first mechanical keyboard with this defect. I have to say, this Corsair keyboard disappointed me a lot because for other keys that do click, still there are a lot of inconsistency. Sometimes they click sometimes they don't. Even though I fully released the key before pressing them again. If it's not a hassle send it back to get an exchange and unbox the board in the shop to test on all the switches. 016 can help you with fixing the switches if the problem persist overtime. |

QUOTE(zennasyndroxx @ May 20 2014, 11:03 AM) side led is possible. but not the imba side led like in gons. sounds challenging lol.I've asked some taobao seller selling acrylic case and they've pictures of side led. seller said under the z/shift key solder the led while maintaining the z/shift key leds that's on top. the leg for the top led must not be cut too short cause you would solder the led under the key with the legs on top of the key he mentioned that the led will be dimmer but from that I can see the dim is not dim at all till it's really insignificant. always try first before solder lol I have an acrylic case that I planned to try but ah wells. setting it will be the main priority. I'll figure bout blingbling next. |

QUOTE(hmwgbworld @ May 20 2014, 11:16 AM) If the pcb doesn't support side leds and u want the effect, u can to sacrifice the led holes for switches by: I don't think the case has any space at the sides after mounting to the case. thing with gon's case, his case is diff. which is unique.1. reverse mount the led, bend the leg and cut it to short enough without interfere with other components. 2. soldering smd leds. I've seen some people said to use led strips. but oh wells. I might wanna make some leds glow underneath tho. haha |
