I'm just using Microsoft Security Essentials.
Used Avast for many years but I think the Microsoft one is enough, don't want to waste too much resource for AV. |

That's because you're using the cracked, illegal anti-virus. These are some quality, free security product:
Immunet FREE Comodo Internet Security 7 Panda Cloud Antivirus Free Qihoo 360 Total Security / Internet Security Baidu Antivirus Roboscan Internet Security Free Outpost Security Suite Free avast! Free Antivirus Avira Free Antivirus AVG AntiVirus Free 2014 SecureAge SecureAPlus (AV engine powered by ClamAV) Crystal Security (still under development more like second opinion scanner, but with real-time protection available) Take into consideration, most of these also have paid version available. Except for Comodo, Qihoo, SecureAPlus, Crystal Security and Baidu, none of these have the same features offered by their paid counterparts. QUOTE(Hitmanz @ Jun 8 2014, 05:25 PM) For paid version, i'll go for Emsisoft Anti-Malware or Emsisoft Internet Security. Not only they offers rock-solid protection, but they're also very affordable with good track record as a security company. Emsisoft doesn't do anything funny with your personal info, and their product doesn't comes with unnecessary bloated programs. However since Asian is not their market yet (they're focusing on European market) it's bit hard to find the retail version here, but if you're still interested in getting the product you can drop an enquiry on this thread. As for me, for now i'm settled with Comodo Internet Security Premium 7 (freeware). The security suite offers all-around protection, it's just i have to untick all the unnecessary components since the suite itself comes with bloatwares by default. The installer package total size is 200 MB but the actual necessary component (which is the AV+Firewall) totaled only 50 MB. The extra 150 MB is for their other junks. Also, the program stability is vary with each version. Sometime their program works fine, sometime after an update it can break your system. The suite did broke one of my Windows 8.1 Metro App. Luckily i have no use of that App. Some other free antivirus / security suite: Fortinet FortiClient Ad-Aware Free Antivirus+ ZoneAlarm Free Antivirus + Firewall Or you can stick with Windows Defender (Windows 8 & 8.1) / Windows Security Essentials (Windows 7 and below) and just be happy with it. It should be more than enough. This post has been edited by Angel of Deth: Jun 8 2014, 06:58 PM |
