If i intent to move my family of 3 including a child, wheres the best option to stay in singapore . I understood the renting of an apartment is somewhere the range of sgd 1.5 k to 2k for hdb apartment. Which area is a decent place to move out from malaysia? I wont have any car except taking my folding bike, and preferably mrt location for wife and child to commute.

More like sgd 2k to 3k. 1.5k u can only get old small flats in damn ulu places. Anyways IMO find somewhere near your workplace for maximum convenience. Singapore every 3-4 MRT stop surely got mini town centre with market supermarket makan place etc. |

I stay Lavender, my single room from old contract is 600 but new asking price is 900. Its opposite my office, well worth the money. 2 bedroom below 3k from ads around the bus stop, still available in Lavender, if 3 room a bit hard.First to get a job then will hunt for a place nearby like you suggested. I renting a single room in a 3 bedroom HDB unit. There are new condos around. Don't know the price. If 1 bedroom studio I think less than 3k can get. |

Hi all, I'm new here. I'm CONSIDERING expanding my career to Singapore. I'm from tax consulting background then moved on to commercial accounting in MNCs, about 8 years' experience. Been applying for positions in JobsDB (about a week now). Just hope someone here can answer my questions:
1) Asking only those who applied to work in Spore after 3-4 years experience, and was successful, could you share the method you used? I know from reading early posts that many freshies go there and spend some time there up to months. But I wonder if that is the best way for experienced professionals. 2) What channels did you use that resulted in a successful offer? As mentioned, so far I just depend on JobsDB...Has anyone here personally approached an employment agency, if yes, and successful, kindly recommend. Hays pop up a lot, anyone had any personal experience with them? 3) My last pay was approaching 5 figures, but when I browse accounting positions that are similar, I am shocked at the low pay scale, even though "MNC" it is all SGD3000 - 4500??? I don't think I have high expectations, just expecting around $6K to start off, get a feel, proof myself to the boss, then worry about better pay later on. Additional info, I have just an Australian accounting degree, and just started to complete last few papers of ACCA probably will complete by next year. In terms of PER obviously I overshot the requisite 36 mths ages ago. So I don't look at ads which require CPA/ACCA/CA, but even these just offer $4500 max? Whoa, in real terms (not nominal figures) I could get higher pay in Malaysia without professional qualification? So what's happening in Singapore? I have a feeling I am looking in the wrong place. I am planning to go to Singapore next month to register a Singapore number, but not sure about staying there to look for work. Can't wait for someone here to enlighten me (lots of details would be very much appreciated). No sarcasm please, thank you! Last thing to add: Anyone kind enough to reply, hope this is not too much to ask...if you don't mind please refrain from quoting the ENTIRE post, otherwise I have to keep scrolling WAY down to read your reply. (My eyesight getting worse by the day and getting frown lines btw my brows from squinting at the screen) This post has been edited by bleo: Nov 6 2014, 06:28 PM |

They setup companies in other countries with their profit in mind, countries where cheap resources are available. 4k SGD and 10k RM seems equivalent. Why pay a SG worker 6k SGD for the same thing when they can get one in for 3+k SGD in MY? Switch the operation to MY better. Only charities would consider the higher living cost and make you happy by paying better. Take a look at MOM's salary statistic for a happier life so you don't feel that you are underpaid. Hello sifus! Sorry long time didnt troll this chat, been MIA.
Just to explain my situation here, I been try to jump boat to my related skills and exprience I had from Australia. Thus, I currently got an offer from an oil and gas vendor company (due to sign on this coming Monday). so my question is: 1. I am just abit concerned my current employer will sabo me (maybe i am thinking too much TVB drama). Has that happen to anyone here? My boss already know I am leaving but he doesnt seem not too happy about it. 2. Will both company ever cross each other when it comes to EP processing? My EP will expire end of the year and the company will apply my EP next week. I presume there will a handover one way or another. Thank you for the time and effort towards my query. In order for the new company to apply your EP, you need to get your current company to terminate your current EP first. There's no way you can hold this one and apply another at the same time. At least that's from what I read on MOM website la. If current company terminate then new company apply, sure no interaction between them la. Otherwise if you apply before the previous one cancel, MOM might contact your old company and ask. Then everything will be no secret. Then... You know la But I'm not sure la... Ask experienced ones to tell you better la |
