QUOTE(doodler @ Apr 15 2014, 10:25 PM) Hi all, I may abit too late to reply to this. But anyhow, just to share. What I did was:Recently I have been granted a scholarship to do my PhD (slab/slai). But here's the problem, all of my PhD applications have been rejected. One reason why my applications were rejected (just my guess) is that I do not hand in together a research proposal in the applications. How do you exactly have a specific topic and produce a research proposal when you haven't start your phd? I do have a general topic in mind (ie Dynamical System in Applied Maths) but not specific topic (ie The global bifurcation of SIR model in blablabla). So I'm kinda stuck and I don't want to waste the opportunity, the scholarship given. Thanks. 1. Look through CVs of potential supervisors that may have carried out researches that interest you. 2. Send them an email and tell them you are interested in what they are doing. Tell them if they are looking for a PhD student. 3. If they are looking for one, they will reply you. Well, my first email in search for a supervisor and a project was replied. I met her, she explained her general ideas about what she wanna do, and I was given only 1 month to come up with my proposal to impress her. 4. After 1 month, submitted. She's happy. I was told to send in my application form together with my proposal. |
