QUOTE(Minecrafter @ Sep 25 2014, 04:32 PM) The person tagged @AMDRadeon and @NVidiaGeforce on Twitter in that post, but the GPU is the Firepro. and the twitter original post some more said "AMD is still the fastest card etc etc" Maybe more? if you compare mainstream gaming card with professional card, of course is still the fastest, different category..... it's like driving a Ferrari in a bicycle competition when the rest is using the most high end mountain bicycles.... QUOTE(meons @ Sep 25 2014, 04:38 PM) this is again, those waiting games.... QUOTE(Najmods @ Sep 25 2014, 08:58 PM) That and also both companies are known to make a huge harp over small things, but AMD seems to be an immature one. I even read that they wanted to crash nvidia previous revealing of GTX 970/980. And i thought someone mentioned that AMD drivers nowadays are not as crappy as they used to be??? They now on par with nVidia's releases? What AMD should have done is supposed to release a sort of miracle driver for their GCN 2.x cards instead of making these sort of fuss. When I use my previous R9 290, I know it's immensely fast, it ran FireStrike benchmark and Crysis 3 maximum detail with 4xAA like other cards handle CoD but somehow I got a feeling all this still can be improved. |

QUOTE(kizwan @ Sep 26 2014, 12:45 AM) That is what he actually did, my friend. He read the text, process it & understand its meaning. You did not wrote the driver is crappy but "miracle driver for their GCN 2.x cards" pretty much saying something wrong with the current drivers that need miracle to improved/fixed them (for GCN 2.x cards). Then again 290/290x is GCN 1.1 cards. haha... pretty much what I've been thinking well, doesn't meant to be hostile in any way, just expressing my concern over the drivers' performance, that is all |

QUOTE(marfccy @ Sep 30 2014, 09:32 PM) nah it doesnt Same thought here bro, i think the GPU game is either side will win for one gen, and the other one the next gen, and the cycle goes on, very rarely will have one camp reigning on the crown for more than say, two consecutive gen? just because each sides are constantly in competition and they release their flagships on diff time of the year, so it can kinda look like "omg Nvidia GTX900 beats AMD R9!!" but they conveniently forget that R9 series is previous gen GPUs (months old since launch) as for reliability and quality, thats wrong to say too since ofc every manufacturer aims to bring the best quality lest they have their reputation tarnished. driver reliability wise, AMD and Nvidia have their fair share of 'lousy drivers' so you cant really say which side have the bad driver support. in short, there is no need to go for specific brands unless youre opting for the special features that AMD/Nvidia can provide. for example, i take Nvidia for their GPU Boost 2.0, Physx, reference cooler design and Shadowplay. But yea, I would take nVidia for the GPU Boost as i think that fits my requirement as i think games sometimes will "spike" or suddenly requires more processing power in short, burst intervals and that Boost is very useful in such use cases. |

QUOTE(Najmods @ Oct 1 2014, 09:47 AM) Boost is annoying at best, it doesn't work like you say actually. It really depends on how good your cooling is and power target, usually it rarely go into boost state. well, i think for a case with sufficient cooling headroom, temps would be still under control. What it actually do is boost early when you started the game when the temps are low then when the card heated up it will reduce the speed. Furthermore it makes overclocking harder. And i do agree that the boost does happen when you start the game, but after the temps are stable, the boost will happen only when the processing requires them, no? And the reason I like the boost is that I dont usually overclocks, then only the temps would be at the higher end for sustained time, just require the card to give that "push" whenever I require them is suffice for me |

QUOTE(Najmods @ Oct 2 2014, 07:33 PM) GPU Boost 2.0 is not load based, but temperature and (to some extend) power based, read about it here. That is why it have target temperature range and not load target boost. true enough, for a rig with enough cooling headroom, it should kick in just fine |

after reading all the rumours and leaks regarding AMD's upcoming Pirate Islands cards R9 380X and 390X, i felt that the number of effor AMD has put into its R&D is definitely no less than that of nVidia.
cant wait for more news!!!! |

QUOTE(Minecrafter @ Dec 25 2014, 10:03 PM) Well,i hope it's not because of their mind only thinking of $$$.. i think, if all the distributors "agreed" to jack up prices (price fixing comes to mind?) for the GPUs, then ALL GPUs will have increase in price whether it is due to whatever reasons... I agree with the jacking up in prices...like what they did to Asus Strix GTX970.. seeing as the prices of GPUs nowadays just makes me that more reluctant to buy even when GST is approaching.... |
