That and also both companies are known to make a huge harp over small things, but AMD seems to be an immature one. I even read that they wanted to crash nvidia previous revealing of GTX 970/980.

What AMD should have done is supposed to release a sort of miracle driver for their GCN 2.x cards instead of making these sort of fuss. When I use my previous R9 290, I know it's immensely fast, it ran FireStrike benchmark and Crysis 3 maximum detail with 4xAA like other cards handle CoD but somehow I got a feeling all this still can be improved.

That is what he actually did, my friend. He read the text, process it & understand its meaning. You did not wrote the driver is crappy but "miracle driver for their GCN 2.x cards" pretty much saying something wrong with the current drivers that need miracle to improved/fixed them (for GCN 2.x cards). Then again 290/290x is GCN 1.1 cards.

just because each sides are constantly in competition and they release their flagships on diff time of the year, so it can kinda look like "omg Nvidia GTX900 beats AMD R9!!" but they conveniently forget that R9 series is previous gen GPUs (months old since launch)

as for reliability and quality, thats wrong to say too since ofc every manufacturer aims to bring the best quality lest they have their reputation tarnished. driver reliability wise, AMD and Nvidia have their fair share of 'lousy drivers' so you cant really say which side have the bad driver support.

in short, there is no need to go for specific brands unless youre opting for the special features that AMD/Nvidia can provide. for example, i take Nvidia for their GPU Boost 2.0, Physx, reference cooler design and Shadowplay.

Boost is annoying at best, it doesn't work like you say actually. It really depends on how good your cooling is and power target, usually it rarely go into boost state.

What it actually do is boost early when you started the game when the temps are low then when the card heated up it will reduce the speed. Furthermore it makes overclocking harder.

GPU Boost 2.0 is not load based, but temperature and (to some extend) power based, read about it here. That is why it have target temperature range and not load target boost.

Don't think single card even with GTX 980 powerful enough for 4K.

Crossfire 290X probably better for 4K, maybe can get a cheap 2nd 290X now?

Well,i hope it's not because of their mind only thinking of $$$.. That after rebates $234 deal on the 290 Tri-X is about RM818 here..while the price for that is RM1149 AFAIK.

I agree with the jacking up in prices...like what they did to Asus Strix GTX970..
