all my R9 280X works at 1500Mhz. Some can go to 1600Mhz.
R9 290 series run at lower memory clock? *EDITED : I checked sites like Sapphire catalog, it does seem like R9 290 series run at lower memory clock. |

QUOTE(terradrive @ Sep 2 2014, 08:55 PM) But in the end memory clock doesn't translate much into performance when compared to GPU core clock overclocking. that is correct. i let it stay at 1500mhz. with GPU these days, even core clock doesn't give that much fps boost. |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Sep 2 2014, 09:01 PM) R9-285 reviewed. As expected, fall between R9-280 and R9-280x except in 1 benchmark. i'm surprised to see it perform better.Sauce: AMD's Radeon R9 285 graphics card reviewed last i check, it was same amount of stream processor as 7950 but memory bus reduced from 384-bit to 256-bit looks like the Tonga is faster than Tahiti. Wait till they come up with the 384-bit version, I think that'll be the 285X. |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Sep 3 2014, 03:44 AM) Apparently 285 use a new form of compression algorithm that make it have higher memory bandwidth efficiency compare to Tahiti with 384-bit memory. thanks for the summary.Tessellation performance also improved significantly. based on the earlier link, the memory bandwidth is actually lesser than 7950 / R9 280. but i also noted the memory transfer rate being 5.5 instead of 5. i believe that's what the memory efficiency thing is about. definitely interesting. i still have a HD 7950 with me, can't wait to pit it against the R9 285. |

it is possible to improve performance.
for example, when I was doing mining, there were some cards with newer BIOS that doesn't mine good enough. I had to flash it to older BIOS to make it work as what it ought to, and in some cases flash to modified BIOS to make it run even better. |

I don't think one should flash firmware unless necessary. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Cari pasal only.
