Hi all. Want to ask owner that use R9 series card.. I was doing burn in test in furmark, and the temp max go to 86C in within 5 mins, and stay that long in next 10mins. Fan 80%. Is it still safe?

Thinking to get Arctic Acelerror 7970 Extreme, but if 86C is normal/safe temp, might saving the moneh. biggrin.gif

yes safe. its very safe. but what is the vrm temp? also furmark is a stressing software until your gpu die. so in normal circumstances, you'll hardly hit that constant temp. (unless u run furmark 24/7/365 whistling.gif )

my 7870xt almost hit 100C on gpu and 110 on VRM and yet its still very safe below the max temp. icon_rolleyes.gif
**this temp is impossible to hit on gaming.

I see. Thanks for the info. Err. Im not sure about the VRM. Is it important as well?

I also notice that the review by our sifu goldfries for Asus DCUII R9 280x and furmark 15 test, temp is 86C while owikh Sapphire R9 280X Toxic and furmark 15 test, temp is 82C.

Guess i'll skip the Arctic Accelero then. tongue.gif

yes. VRM temp > GPU temp. n sometimes VRM temp may be way higher than GPU temp alot. monitoring it is important as well as mostly VRM temp will hit 125C first than the GPU temp.

GPU-Z is able to show both GPU and VRM temp.
normally, i wont go and do Furmark as it stress the hell out of d gpu alot. sweat.gif
*
Oh. Ok. Haha. I will test via heaven benchmark 4.0, and some gpu intensive gaming like Tomb Raider and Batman Arkham Origin, and monitor the VRM temp.

Thanks bro. smile.gif

for your comparison, depends on the game.
i think its better to compare on both same settings but 1440p without AA vs 1080p with AA.
but hey, a 1440p definitely is more gooding on 1080p and if you able to afford to get 1440p monitor, i don't see how you not able to afford a good gpu to support gaming on it.
if you have a weak gpu, i believe its best for you to stick on 1080p for more enjoying/higher fps gaming experience. a good balance combination is better than unbalanced combination. icon_rolleyes.gif

I see. Coz i not yet see the 1440p in real life yet. Thanks for the explantion bro. smile.gif

I just read up few page back that MSI Lightning 290x going crazy at RM1299. Damn! That almost the price i paid for my 9 month old MSI TwinFroz 280x which is at RM1199. doh.gif

Hope my card can last another year. Currently playing AC IV also need to tweak out some setting. Not to mention next gen title like Unity, COD AW. Now waiting for my DAI and see how it perform. This mid card only can play mid-high setting nowadays. sweat.gif

Unity optimization is shit, i play on absolute minimum @34fps and max out ultra(FXAA) on 28fps. laugh.gif
No problem with COD:AW unless you go nuts with the AA seting.
I can play DA:I on mix of High-Very High with 60fps average.
FarCry4 on High or Ultra if you can accept fluctuation of 35fps-70fps laugh.gif

Yah. Same like when Watch Dogs release. Got issue with AMD card. But the fix come later. So i believe in should be the same with Unity.
Ah! Can't wait my copy this Friday. The review look awesome with graphic and lovely world. wub.gif

Ok, so i receive my Dragon Age Inquisition on Friday. Just begin to install and play yesterday.
Hmm.. With the latest Beta Driver 14.11xx something I've getting about 36+- on default Ultra setting, and sometime drop below 30. sweat.gif The Raptr Optimization is more worse. Getting merely 32fps with drop below 30 at most. So i end up playing with Automatic setting. All were set to High, but only Texture is Medium and AA is off. That setting can get me average 60fps.

I thought i will not feel a different between 3x fps with 6x fps. Turn out, i did notice the different in gameplay. No wonder everyone keep hunting 6x fps. laugh.gif

historically speaking, AMD never had problem with price fight...in fact, thats are their specialty    brows.gif  icon_idea.gif

I agree on this. Price wise, AMD always better since ATI era. Can't wait for next R9 3xx series on Feb. Look very promising.
Crap, my 280x only last with me for a year if i upgrade to 3 series. Time to max out. tongue.gif

Why lower the Texture? It doesn't affect fps that much... and quality apparently. Maybe i did this wrong. sweat.gif

No, my term is wrong. Lol. I was mean the Tessellation to Med. Anyway my setting now as per below. Slightly tweak the Ultra setting with MSAA turn off. Getting 4x-5x fps, with average about 49fps. Good enough for me. wub.gif

Well if the jump from 280X to 380X in terms of performance isn't that much,i'd say upto you,i'd not. biggrin.gif But from the benchmarks posted earlier, aman tahu that's the 380X.. icon_idea.gif  laugh.gif

Wait, i thought R9 380x pawn current R9 290x / gtx 980. If so, then its a quite good upgrade provide the price less than 2k hopefully. tongue.gif
Edit: or i mess up with R9 390x benchmark. Lolz. sweat.gif
