QUOTE(sai86 @ Jul 11 2014, 09:19 PM) mana high. low la. somemore you using ref gc of r9 290. so its very normal. basically the driver limit the max temp the gpu can reach @ 95C to prevent burnout/hangus. first time im owning a gpu that can hit 95 degrees and don't worry. its around 15C less from kantoi threshold. i once able to reach 105C on gpu temp and 110C on vrm1 on 7870XT dual-X Sapphire |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Jul 12 2014, 01:08 AM) Yeah, the chart is mostly just a click bait. Treyarch didn't develop COD:AF, but i really want to believe GTA:V will support Mantle. yeah i read the throttling issue i map fan speed using msi afterburner kinda noisy though Not sure but it is the kind of game that will benefit Mantle the most beside RTS. The reference card was built to with stand 95c operation, but you might want to set the fan to hover around 90c so it won't throttle down. This post has been edited by S4PH: Jul 12 2014, 10:42 PM |

QUOTE(Yagami5159 @ Jul 13 2014, 09:44 AM) I increased the fan speed by 8% for all temps. (Fan speed= (temperature+8)) modding the cooling is way outta my budget bro Well you're using the reference model, as you read around in tomshardware, alot of ppl complain abt it runs hot and loud.. but look at the bright side.. at least you're able to update your driver to 14.4, while mine couldn't even touch 14.x drivers without slapping me with a black screen on the face. Why not change the GPU cooler itself? like Artic Accelero Xtreme III » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Jul 31 2014, 11:27 PM) It is good but i think you still need to buy heatsinks for the VRM and VRAM since the cooler didn't cover it. If i'm not mistaken, M1X using it. Mostly wont sell as their tri x is still under warranty seems like it comes with vram and vrm sinksI think you can try find Sapphire Tri-X cooler from user that switched to WC since it use reference PCB. llk maybe? Just use MSI Afterburner OSD to monitor, Raptr don't have any hardware monitoring tool. Raptr GVR is superior and recording performance hit is little to nothing in most games compare to MSI AB VCE, but Raptr GVR still lack compatibility. OBS with VCE is superior to MSI Afterburner and better than GVR in term of compatibility.. it can literally record everything that show on screen or off screen. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1129414&hl= http://www.prolimatech.com/en/products/det...id=2460#showtab Im not planning to watercool as its too much of a hassle for me with current stock cooling i dont dare to oc at all |

QUOTE(M1X @ Aug 1 2014, 01:07 AM) it does comes with all the small heatsinks you require. but their adhesive sucks, might want to use a little of glue or use your own double tape to make it hold better. Yup i read it takes 4 slots for me no issues as my casing is corsair 500r nothing under my gpu and not planning to cfx also, so how is the temps is it worth the money spent? minimum 4 slots of expansion space required. |

QUOTE(M1X @ Aug 1 2014, 09:45 AM) Result of overclocked R9 280x: i just cant accept the stock cooling noise its like a plane ready to take off https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=69169603 I don't really run that speed daily of course, just lightly overclocked 1100 core @ 1.05v, 1500 memory. my room temperature is ~30c non aircond, gpu idle around 35c I think. currently playing an old MMO @ 41c, pushing standard 3D games may still stays around 55c to 60c depends on the game's stress. the best part is, it's way quieter than factory coolers - after all you choose your own fans. currently I'm using a pair of freaking old Coolermaster 120mm fans wired to a fan controller running ~1000rpm. even at max ~1800rpm still pretty quite, not even as noisy as factory's 40% speed... thats the beauty of mk-26 i can choose my own fans i have a pair of cmaster 120mm fan lying around so id try use that. U wire to a fan controller? not directly to ur gpu? How to find out my gpu fan amps scared to overload my gpu connector please advise sifus here |

QUOTE(llk @ Aug 1 2014, 01:14 PM) VRM is located in front of the PCB so backplate wont be able touch directly. And i think the VRM heatsink is standalone have to use better doublesides thermal tape otherwise it may dropped i remember b4 i used artic accelero it comes with special epoxy glue for ram sinks im nt sure does the MK-26 uses glue or double sided tape panas sure drop 1 |

QUOTE(llk @ Aug 1 2014, 06:42 PM) Yeah glue is more secured but after applied i worried it will be permanent and might lost the warranty. Another suggestion is sell your ref card and buy the custom card, saw a member here selling his powercolor pcs+@rm1k, that is very good price hahahaha too late already already purchased mk-26 from nicholasteoh glue or not i have to use it |

installed my mk-26 and damn the guide was so unclear as i tought the shim is only for 7970 fitted the cooler without the shim damn the temps goes way up even worst than stock cooler.
Even a guide i read online also says r9 does not need to use the shim provided. |

QUOTE(M1X @ Aug 8 2014, 10:21 AM) which site you referring to this is where i got the no shim used for r9 290 the cooler manual of course is a little outdated, not really "new model" anyway. also coat both contact side with thermal paste. otherwise will also run into serious trouble. how's the temperature for your card? R9 290? Looks like those readings on your Heaven benchmark is hella bugged... 1664312°c LOL http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18553466 here is the info i mistakenly followed yes i did put some thermal paste on the shim, and temps looks ok at the moment, running heaven benchmark at 1080p temps never hit 70 degrees at all, im confused why heaven benchmark bugged my gpu temps is at "1664312°c" because the shim die contact is based on 7970 die which is located like a diamond shape on the gpu, r9 290 is just square type hence the manual also mentioned specifically for 7970, i assumed that it cant be used on r9 290 and i was wrong. I tought the vortex 140mm fans are defective or slow. took me two days to solve this issue due to my lack of knowledge lol but i did notice that the heat was not transferring well to the cooler.
