Got fan rattle issue? Try increase fan speed >60% and see.

nope heard anything wiredo sound just vroom sound but at 60% it still quiet compare toxic
low noise and at stock speed around 14xx rpm.. cant heard any sound from card

tried catalyst mobility 14.4 Beta on 6850m but can not adjust brightness (stuck at max brightness). anyone have any ideas to fix this?

use previous driver.. is Beta and is not even available be download on AMD driver site... u may risk damage gpu..

Tested Dota2, Arma3, NFS:Rival, Assetto Corsa, BF4 Mantle, Max Payne3, Hitman Absolution, rFactor2 & 1FDP with 14.4.. all work fine without performance issue with my card.

Sorry, is that muxed or muxless? Did it dynamically switch between both GPUs or you need to manually switch them thru Catalyst CC?

it is manual switching through catalyst control center. what is muxed/muxless?

about the same as 7870?

Based on the same chip, but it is 5% faster than HD 7870.

Toughluck, muxed/manual switching is known to have problem with brightness control when you're using discrete gpu.

Your best bet is to use Leshcat's UniFl Brightness Resolver but create a system restore point before using just in case and make sure you read the manual >9000 times.

Playing BF4 64 players so hard to get stable 120FPS from LOW to HIGH, the GPU usage is damn unstable. I tried going 130% resolution scale and set almost everything on low except texture quality/filtering, mesh and terrain quality and still struggle with GPU usage hitting only 30% at some point with FPS at only 70-80. The CPU wasnt stressed at all, sitting only at 60% on all cores except higher usage about 80% at CPU 2 (Hyperthreaded) with temperatures at below 75c. Crysis 3 / BF4 SP works fine. Running on 13.12 Drivers and cores have been unparked. Like this already doubt about buying 2nd R9 290 liao since GPU usage so damn unstable even for single GPU. CPU and GPU OC all stable and stress teseted (GPU through 10 hours of Unigine Heaven and CPU through 12 hours of Prime95. Issue still occurs with all stock clocks for CPU and GPU.

Help anyone?

hmm nice spec.. have u post your score on https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3113014 make sure follow the Terms &condition to upload score provide Gpu-z info and Max Setting for both 900p and 1080p

Wait for 14.4 driver or try the leaked 14.4 and then enable Mantle? I know if fixed few issues 290s user having with previous 14.x beta.

I always put the latest driver there, doesn't matter Beta or Leaked or WHQL.

Dunno leh, last time use 14.3 core clock fluctuate like hell when OCed, although Mantle's GPU usage seems to be more stable at 98-99% last time if I remember

What is ur resolution?
I had same problem with CF but later i take my GPUS and reinstall driver than every thing was fine and gpus was going to 100% usage.

Try other driver(latest Mantle driver) and make sure that u are running game 64 bits.

Main question is that are u on Win 7?If yes than that is the problem.

Either BF4's DX11 got fark up for AMD gpus to promote mantle or BF4 is buggy as hell (as always)

tried Leshcat unifi driver quite some time ago but unable to get it installed correctly, pretty much give up on it

Leshcat driver is not necessary, you can try LeekM driver and then use UniFL Brightness Resolver.. or simply use it with your current driver.

for me no.
1. your resolution is 1080p only. an OC 290 will be sufficient.
2. drop down MSAA to get higher FPS.
3. unless you got extra $$ don't mind to go. but CF290 for 1080p is very wasteful. rather get dell u2713hm or above than the extra gpu.
4. yes, CF now as you get 1440p monitor or above

I wan Overkill specs for future 2560x1440 or BF4 at least 120FPS above at higher settings (u know me lah, I care about FPS alot in BF), thats why aiming for dual R9 290 as the 780 Ti is so bloody expensive that if I choose that, it would cost about RM1k (2k more if I go SLI), not worth it lah. I am running on default HIGH settings liao, and the GPU usage is randomly going from 70-80+ sometimes 90% only without hitting at least 100FPS.

so does 14.4 beta improvised something on 7970?

depends. if eyefinity, the bezel muz be very thin thin thin. else, for me its a blowoff. or get a Curve UHD monitor .
if 1440p unable to satisfy you, there's still 1600p. although the price is kinda but cheaper than 4k atm or so.

Depending on your settings...probably medium - high

The normal edition (reference) costs around RM2499 or so, if not mistaken. It is loud, runs hot and you may face some throttling issues when the temperature target is reached. DCUII basically fixes all of the issue with the reference card, and according to Techpowerup, it is their favorite non-reference rendition of the 290X.

A local shop in my place still has a unit of Asus R9 290X reference.

How the hell does a normal reference card cost so much?
Was expecting 1.9k plus. Sigh.
