QUOTE(terradrive @ Dec 8 2014, 01:42 PM)
I still got the black screen on Catalyst 14.4.
I don't know what's the cause now, I disconnected the PSU PCI-E 6 pin and connect it using molex -> 6 pin power connector.
Anybody have the black screen problem here with their 290/290X?
*
i also faced the same problem on my first month using r9 290 and resolved it using this method:

-reinstall driver
-disable ccc at system startup.. ccc is a noob oc software btw tongue.gif .
-overvolt your card a bit using afterburner or trix
-core and memory can also be overclock if you want since you already overvolt the card
-by using afterburner, disable ulps and enable force constant voltage
-do not set apply overclock at system startup.. set oc profile instead and oc manually everytime you boot up

a friend told me that some of r9 290/290x gpus having problem with its voltage stability at stock and cause it to BSOD due to lack of voltage to the core.. so by overvolt it a bit will resolve the prob.. the key solution are disable ccc and overvolt the card.

but im using the reference model.. not sure whether this can resolve the tri-x. good luck biggrin.gif

Thanks, I will try it out.

If it's still the same then I will probably RMA this card and get the GTX970 ... sweat.gif

The most annoying thing about black screen is that it even happens when I just browsing the internet doh.gif

Usually caused by PowerTune fluctuating the clock/volt. Try disable ULPS 1st and disable Hardware Acceleration in Flash settings. What browser u using?

PM me if u selling it reaaaaally cheap. tongue.gif

I'm using chrome

I wanna see first if can fix, but I'm lazy for the RMA process too sweat.gif

After using Trixx to add 31 mV, still black screen. Now I just updated the UEFI BIOS to the latest 015.044.000.011.000000. Previously it's 015.042.000.000.000000.

Someone in other forum mentioned the BIOS have added 25mV also, let's see if this new BIOS can fix this issue cry.gif

Not yet.Also,it's the 270,not 270X.
Getting the rig soon. The soon = Before April. tongue.gif
If only OS and Monitor are cheaper here,i'd definitely go for the R9 285,but damn it..
Now 1USD = 3.5 ringgit. doh.gif

The Omega thingy driver?I'm fine with that since..well,maybe March 2016,i'll have a better GPU. tongue.gif

Definitely down to their driver. AMD beta drivers are always good.Itsjust the whql is a bit slow. Good to see they're moving in the right direction.

I noticed that in some review sites but not all.
Maybe they need to do that so the new card will look like an upgrade rather than a sidegrade. ph34r.gif

Long release note,

I'm only interested with this particular improvement.

Driver Efficiency Improvement:
Driver optimization for multi core CPUs allows up to 15% more performance for some AMD platforms.

Don't forgot to remove previous driver with the latest DDU.

If you guys remember, I was at AMD Future of Compute late November and the Omega driver was announced there BUT under NDA until 9th December. smile.gif

Here it is, my test drive with the driver.

Black screen from? I heard 14.9 has problem.

I never bothered, that's why I stick to 14.4 because if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
