Just back home after outstation. Ok, update on my R9 280X issue. Previously i reapply the thermal paste using Tuniq-TX-2 (purchase this about 2010 and nvr used. surprisingly still can work). Now idle temp about 40-42C, and during gaming BF3 20mins and 3x time run Heaven Benchmark, it goes to top 76C. I guess as long not reach 85C, good enough.

Plus i have tear MSI sticker on the screw! 3yrs warranty wasted?? Hope this card can last on me.

Something is wrong with your system/window mang, i get similar fps at low setting on 64 player server with Mantle and i can play Crysis 3 just fine with 8GB+pagefile disabled. Did you check if your proc clocked properly when gaming? did it throttled down? Or "something" is running on background and sucking up all those processor juice.

You can use RAMMap to check which file got cached by windoze.

Processor is fine at 50-60% usage stock I believe in MP 64p, clocked and stock no difference. Later go reach home will check the ram

Tried switching RAM sticks with my brother just now, on my PC with both RAM sticks playing with paging fail off will cause Bf4 to "run out of memory".

EDIT: One thing I noticed when playing Crysis 3. When playing with paging file disabled, in the task manager in the "Committed" it shows 7.6/7.9...surely something is leaking, and BF4 will surely be a lot higher lol...

CPU does the work to the transfers between the HDD to RAM to GPU. Previously CPU does all the software DirectX thingy and Mantle/Directx 12 negates that.


2nd GPU Access 1st GPU Mem Via SLi/Crossfire bridge on the new R series via PCIE express to the other card.

Sli/crossfire uses one card GPU MEM. so why would it increase???

Well, when I removed one card, games use up around 3GB pagefile. Using crossfire increased the pagefile to something around 5.8-6+ GB...

Pagefile is set by windows dude aka virtual mem.
and its based on ure Available RAM. Not GPU.

Thought in this day and age with SSD and ppl having a lot of ram .. most people disable pagefile.

well...that was according to MSI Afterburner anyway. Running Prime95 now in Blend mode, funny that it states that it will test a lot of RAM, but only use like 3.0GB of my physical RAM

Change to custom and edit the amount to be full. Check ure taskbar to see how much available.
make sure its the latest prime95 with AVX 2 support.

Its wonderful card though. Gaming maxed everything so far for 2560x1080.

I need blower type. If not really stupid of having a tj11.

5999.. worth it really for 295x2 that runs two 290x in uber mode and has less heat and noise.
