QUOTE(malaysianPotato @ Jul 28 2006, 09:53 AM) magazine BS! what if the nearest emergency room is 5km away?! 40 pushups is a cake walk, carrying a 100lbs girl for 5km would be hard as hell if one could only do 40 pushups. dude, go emergency room carry all the way to hospital one ah? there is a car to carry one wei..... just to carry the girl from upstair the house to downstair into the car, should be no problem. This post has been edited by iDk: Jul 28 2006, 06:25 PM |

QUOTE(LYFfan @ Jul 28 2006, 12:02 PM) Yeah, its rubbish ANyway if you need to do emergency carry as one person you don't use your arms but your back by doing fireman carry. Or else arms sure die one. but who will take her out from the bed outside to the house? If two people do chairlift on a conscious person and deadman's lift on a unconsious person if really dont have equipment. BEst is of course to secure the neck before lifting if at all possible, esp in MVA. |

QUOTE(malaysianPotato @ Jul 28 2006, 12:11 PM) if you have to carry that person, you shouldnt carry him/her at all, call 999 and get an ambulance. if you have medical know how or know first aid, stablise your friend and keep him/her calm. you never move an unconcious person or person with possible broken bones if you dont know what you're doing. ur wife giving birth of your boy? still wait for first aid and dont touch her?i've heard stories of how people try to carry their friends or family member who suffered a stroke and unknowingly caused their deaths or worsened the situation. imo better to do nothing if you know nothing, knowing a little of something can be worse than knowing nothing at all. |

QUOTE(malaysianPotato @ Jul 28 2006, 06:44 PM) it really depends on how severe the case is and where you are, if its a simple twisted ankle or even a broken ankle carrying someone to the car should be fine(yet i somehow managed to F-up getting my friend to the hospital with a broken ankle, gg bone was sticking up against the skin looked horrible). if its a stroke where moving the patient can send him/her into shock call 999 first, and ask for a no BS eta, if you can get to the hospital 10 minutes before the emt's arrive then go otherwise wait. wahlau.... all your case is like also... what if you dont have a car lol. man it up and hump it down the road till you find a clinic/hospital? depends how far into labour she is, if her water just broke you can probably get her to the hospital in your car with no issues. you dont want to have her in late labour while you're stuck in traffic, she'd be clawing at you while you drive and pushing the baby out onto your car floor, all the while cursing you for putting her through the pain of child birth. like i said, it depends on how severe the case is. |
