I am a big fan of Alpha Centauri and definitely getting this.

The new quest system seems to be quite interesting.

It wont be a direct sequel to Alpha Centuri though, knowing how Firaxis design their games, they will always change some fundamental mechanics to provide a new experience.

Like what they did with Civ V with hexes and one unit per tile. And XCOM's more narrative driven gameplay.

Wanna buy this, but the problem is that I don't have time to play it.
Oh and I'd rather wait for all the DLC's to be released, by then for sure discounted a lot already.

If the sales are good, there will be an expansion.

Firaxis did say that there are a few major features that they could not implement in time. One of them is water based tiles cities and even more faction diversification.

Water based tiles cities would be very interesting as it was not in Alpha Centauri.

Hopefully the sales number will allow them to make DLCs / expansion.

I hope they do sell enough for another expansion.

I am still waiting for another XCOM expansion. I want to go to Cynodia.

Hmmm, I waited too long for a spiritual successor for Alpha Centauri so I bought this from GMG before Steam even introduced local currency.

Turn-based games from Firaxis are one of the best.
*
A bit hard to say Firaxis is the best as nowadays, I think Amplitude who developed Endless Space and Endless Legends also have a lot of potential while had proved themselves with Endless Space. I didnt really like the game, due to the really dull combat but their support and communication is fantastic.

But I wont deny that Firaxis is still the best TBS company so far.

Just a quick clarification.

Is Endless Legends the sequel for Endless Space?
*
Endless Legend is more like another in the same universe that is set on one dying planet. Gameplay wise, both are very different.

You can find the Endless Legend's planet in Endless Space, if I am not wrong, as a barren planet.

What is the symbol of an eye in a pyramid everywhere on the screens (1:44)?

Every copy of Beyond Earth also comes with a copy of the game's soundtrack.

Here are 2 sample tracks from the soundtrack.

It really feels a bit like Anno 2070's soundtrack. hmm.gif

Dire, yet hopeful.

Which driver are you currently using? 344.13?

I dont have that problem on mine. nVidia recent drivers seemed to have a lot of issues with running games on full screens.

Just updated to 344.48 because it said it is now optimize for Civ BE. Still cant find 1080p.
*
I tried on mine. Seemed to be running on 1080p on default but I didnt look into the setting. It just start on window mode and Alt Enter fixes it.

I'll try again tonight and post it here.

Why nVidida mobile drivers are so wonky now? sweat.gif

Just curious. I always thought drivers for mobile GPU are usually different from the desktop version.
*
The hardware itself is actually very similar. The only difference is, it is downclocked with some power saving hardware on it. Other than that, it is very identical to the desktop version.

There are modded desktop beta drivers for mobile GPUs and they run just fine. The only difference is they just modify an .ini file that allow the driver to be installed on the laptop.

If I am doing a review, this is the exact i'll do.

It is not a bad game, but in fact better than Civ V on release but it is really lacking of depth and personality.
