Again 2 conflicting information from 2 branches of BR. One branch told me they discourage customers from issuing cheque which means is still possible but another branch told me they no longer issue cheques but I was able to transfer using RENTAS.

FD fund that has transferred into BR saving account also cannot issue cheque? sad.gif

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Aug 21 2014, 11:52 PM)
I was abit 'malu' actually as I was actually transferring my FD out of BR & yet they still invited me to eat  laugh.gif  drool.gif

Ha ha.. I know how you feel.. but not to say malu lah, but feel a bit bad lah.. biggrin.gif

Oh yes, and they had reserved parking right in front of the bank on that day!

I thought everyone should be mourning in the morning?

Then just go there after 12.00 pm... sweat.gif

Oh.. I think this Affin Open House is only for FD depositors who will place
FD there? Right? hmm.gif
If we simply walk in to eat, we will not be welcomed?

Finally i parked my money in UOB today, 13 month@3.9%.
Need to open a SA for them to deposit the interest which will be paid half yearly and the min amount needed to open the SA is Rm20. It comes with Atm card, no passbook.

The sales manager tried to intro me the saving plan which they collaborate with Prudential, 5.88% with min 9k investment, but i didn't want that. It's more suitable for long term saving.
*
What is the yearly fee for the ATM card? RM 8.00?

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Aug 21 2014, 11:27 AM)
During the BR lunch function 2 days ago, one depositor sat with me and complained about BR not giving out cheque. Then the branch manager sat down with us. He mentioned that they are not issuing cheque and can transfer money to other banks. That will cause inconvenience to depositors. Have to get cheque from another bank or xfer to ur current account and issue cheque yourself.  smile.gif
*
Oh... This is very inconvenience..
Let's say if we want to place FD in Affin after BR FD is matured, so if we IBG BR fund to
Affin existing saving account, then in this case, would Affin accept this fund in Affin saving
account as a fresh fund to place new FD? hmm.gif

Why BR wants to do like this?
I guess BR wants to know where does our money go to... sweat.gif

I did not ask about after transferring into the savings account though but should be the same case, should be some new policy as one of the teller said is in line with Bank Negara's direction to reduce cheque usage.

Haha, not sure about Affin, but I believe for BR there were many gate crashers as the tellers were quite free but many people eating tongue.gif

For Affin HQ's open house, mostly seemed to be staff.

The FD rates from @BoomChaCha above seems better than mine on CIMB Clicks with 3.30 @ 3 Months. Opted CIMB Clicks due to convenient reason. Hmm should I change..

Do other banks do the same like BR?

Tomorrow I will make an excuse to deposit RM 200 in my Affin SA,
and I will pretend to discover this open house accidentally; of course
I will ask my whole family to go; otherwise cannot justify my petrol cost,
time and energy. I think the best time to go is 12.05pm thumbup.gif

The eFD rates are usually low sad.gif
You calculate yourself whether it is justify (petrol, time and energy) for you to go to bank
counter to place FD. Some members here say that if can make at least extra RM 100 then
it is worth the efforts to place FD via counter rather than eFD.

I am waiting for Captain Gen-X to come back from his vacation so that
Captain can continue to update this thread.. smile.gif

I see. Yes quite true as it will be time consuming to wait for the queue.
Anyway, thanks for your consolidated FD update list! smile.gif

When I withdraw from KFH, they also said "want to do IBG ?". Seem to be a bit reluctant to issue banker's cheque. Anyway I insisted on banker's cheque and got it. smile.gif

Ask to transfer to another bank of your choice. Issue banker's cheque or your own cheque if you have CA. smile.gif

If BR transfers our funds to our BR saving accounts after our FDs are matured, then can we
request a banker's cheque to withdraw from BR saving account on the spot?  hmm.gif
*
In that case you need to buy bank draft from BR yet still subject to charges.

I dunno if this has been asked before but the CIMB 1-month 3.25%, is it valid for eFD as well?

First time placing eFD with CIMB Clicks. sweat.gif
