Have bought one from CIMB getting returns of 5.2% every 3 months. 10 yrs and callable, regretting it !

CIMB Klibor, note callable !!

Aiks, aren't 2nd round opr might coming on Sept 18? Bro so fast deposit for 15 months? hmm.gif
Weird leh.. last week deposited 3 month FD in affin as well, but does not require SA or it is promotional??
*
Well, you have to take what you think is the best deal vs what may or may not come later. You also "lose" interest for shorter term FD.

Affin has various FD promo at diff times. This one will deposit after 15 months into SA. No auto renewal. smile.gif

Also unless you ask, they would not mention the 15 months FD promo. Kind of strange.

What does 'callable' mean?

EDIT: Means if its performing too well the bank will 'call' it out and give you back interest earned?

Yes, callable means the bank can call off the deal anytime. Instead of locking your funds for 5 years, they might call back after 1 year. Interest is usually paid quarterly, so after one of the interest paid, they will credit all your capital back to you also. Then you go find other things to invest in.

Just back from BR Uptown. They are having their Hari Raya open house today, just so happen I was there so I told them you should inform. The teller said only selected customers were informed.

They had the usual fare like satay, beef rendang, lemang, roti jala, asam laksa, curry chicken.

Just an update for RHB, the next best account besides Bonus Save is Max Save, not My Save as balances RM1,000 to RM10,000 gets 0.6%

recently withdraw my FD from BR. Notice 2 things here

1) If your maturity date falls on Public Holiday although you opt for automatic renewal the renewal date will not be on the Public Holiday but the next day of the public holiday. Not aware of this all this while.

2) BR don't issue cheque/bank draft when you want to uplift your FD. Either will transfer to your existing BR saving account or others bank account. RM2 charges applies.

Gonna park my FD in MBB 3+3.. or anyone have better suggestion?

hi , just to confirm. You have to open 2 accounts to be entitled to the luggage right? One e-account and one FD with ratio 30:70.

Making the effective rate not 4% .

yes. effective only 70% x 4% = 2.8%

but is it only 5k commitment for 3 months. a very small price to pay for luggage set of 3.

After I completed the 4.7% 5-yr FD, the staff there gave me a bag with 2 pens, a fridge magnet & a mug without me having to ask for gifts! Bravo to them.  rclxms.gif

Compare this to BR's gifts of an umbrella & a hand towel for 2 separate FD's BUT I had to ask for the gifts!  rolleyes.gif

BTW the MBSB branch at Glomac, if not at end/beginning of the month, was empty when I was there last week. In & out in a jiffy!  thumbup.gif

My guess is your placement with BR reached or exceeded RM100k, thus enable you to receive those gifts. Previously, RM50k was enough sad.gif

The MBSB branch that I frequented is indeed always uncrowded. If it weren't for the presence of the staffs there, I'd have thought that it's an abandoned office laugh.gif

The 1st BR FD was 100k (umbrella gift), the 2nd less than 100k (hand towel gift), & MBSB's FD was less than 20k but many more gifts. Yes, the glomac branch was deserted too... smile.gif

Are sure BR doesn't issue bank draft anymore? I kena RM2.00 in June although it was posted here that the cheque is FOC.

The branch from my area just held its open house last week. Only selected customers were invited.

Learned one gate-crash skill from you today. Next time just need to find out the time & date of the open house. Show up at the time mentioned to do simple stuff & gain entry to the party brows.gif
